Heading to TS this weekend - are they still making people leave gaming floor/pokerroom if you have a backpack on?

Would like to bring some food and headphone but will leave bag in car if they are still enforcing this rule

How often do $2/$5 NL games run?

How often and how big are the limit cash games?

Just spent last Thursday-Sunday playing all of the biggest games offered and have been playing the limit game for a few months now.
The limit game is 20/40 and runs every Friday morning until the game breaks usually very late at night/8 or 9 am Saturday morning. Last weekend we bumped that up and were playing 30/60 and even got some 50/100 going (but that is quite rare).
Occasionally a limit game will run on a Thursday or Saturday but for the most part Friday is the day.

We got a 5/10 half nlhe half plo game going last friday night but the only reason that went was all of the right players were there that night.

I always bring a backpack and have never had any issues in my 20 or so visits in the last 3 months.

Anyone playing the 350 DS turbo tomorrow? Probably will make a trip out for that. Unfortuneately can't stay the weekend for the main..

Someone mentioned that the cell phone rules had loosened up--in what way? Can you have them out/text at the table?

Also, I've only sparingly gone to the Turning Stone for the last 6 years or so, but I was there a whole lot from about 17-20, mostly losing money until the end of it. The trips I've made have, since then, been completely reliable in terms of moneymaking potential, but I've only been trolling 2-4 LHE. I'm planning on moving up this weekend there and I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for someone who plans on heading there probably around 30-40 hours a week to replace my current, terrible job that I make almost no money at. By tips I mean things specific to making the experience more enjoyable for someone who plans on grinding out a meager living wage if possible.

Thanks

Im going to be in upstate N.Y. this weekend for a wedding, and was thinking of visiting Turning Stone, but I can't find any information about pets on their website. Anyone know if you can have pets in their hotel rooms? Our if there are any hotels near by that allow pets?

the inn might allow pets, the tower definitely does not. There are hotels nearby that allow pets I just forget exactly which ones.

Any word on how many runners the main got?

Their Twitter feed says PL Omaha will now be offered daily. How popular are those games?

Fairly popular as it is, I see it running whenever I'm there. Would love if more plo gets spread.

Is it the good players that play Omaha, or a mix of good and bad?

234. 20 (plus bubble) got paid. $30k up top. Don't know whether there was a chop.

I'd say a mix. From the small sample I've seen played there, the game usually attracts one or two rich fish then the rest of the table is just the regs that are normally there. Highly doubtful you'll find anyone incredibly well versed in Plo there.

Hey, all. I've read through most of this thread and have come to a conclusion that I want to make the trek out to TS. I'm 20 and looking for a poker room to suite my lack of gambling age requirements and Turning Stone seems like my best (and only) option. Although it is about a 3.5 hour drive, I plan on splitting the travel costs with a buddy.
I tormented a couple dorm room games at university and want to venture out into the world of live poker rooms. I have a couple questions for those of you who have gone recently:

-How have the No Limit 1/2, and 2/5 games been running skill wise? (I assume the 1/2, 2/4 games run around the clock as they are popular)
-Are tables full and is there some sort of seat reservation system, or do I simply walk in and sit down?
-How much bankroll do you recommend if I want to play no limit 1/2, 2/5 and make a decent amount of profit?

Sorry for the amount of questions but my buddy and I are complete casino noobs. I am confident enough in my skill that I can atleast hold my own out there I just want to iron out the details of actually starting up play.

Um, probably much tougher than your dorm room games because I would imagine most dorm room players are clueless noobs. However, if your dorm games are full of internet phenoms who were crushing online before Black Friday, then TS will be much easier. In other words, there is no way to answer your question.

When you enter the room, go to the front desk and let them know what game you want to play. The person at the desk will either direct you to a table or put you on the waitlist. Get your chips at the cage in the front of the room and don't forget to buy your $2 membership card. (FYI, TS may be the only place on Earth with this requirement.)

There is no such thing as bankroll for someone coming to play as a one-time visit. Bring what you are willing to lose, as is always the case when gambling. 1/2NL has a $50-$200 buyin, 2/5NL has a $200-$500 buyin. Making "a decent amount of profit" is purely a function of how you play and the cards you get, not how much money you have in your wallet when you arrive.

Assuming it isn't during a tournament series they are running....it's just one table of 20/40 (once there were two tables). They have a few tables of 2/4 and maybe a 3/6 once in a while but i'm assuming this doesn't concern you.

If the right people are there the 20 game gets bumped to 30 and even 50 just depending on the group.

Since you are not a professional player, but are just coming down there for a couple days, we are not talking about poker bankroll, we are talking about sufficient money for the trip.

If you are playing 1/2, you should probably bring $1,000 (5 buy-ins). If you are playing 2/5, you should probably bring $2,500. Since you have never played in a casino environment before, I would suggest playing 1/2.

Also, since you are a 3.5 hour drive away, it would be beneficial for you to get a room for a night of two (especially seeing you can split it with your friend), as it does not make much sense to drive 7 hours for just 1 session.

Where you from? From buffalo? Theres a couple other options for you if this is the case.

Here's an admittedly weird question.

Let's say I'm playing 2/5NL and I'm crushing. Run my $500 to $1800. How would I get a rack of redbirds colored up into a stack of greens? Last time I went, there were no chip runners or the like.

I hope this becomes a problem for me in the next year or so, lol.

I like to take rack after rack after rack to the cage so I like having a lot of red birds. It empowers me. Mwahahahah.

The dealer should be able to color you up, assuming they have room in their rack.
