I'm posting this because I feel everyone who plays at Turning Stone should be aware of this as it's a health concern and absolutely insane.......to me anyways
At approx 5:50pm table 26 a player showed down his hand. On the face of the card was a large finger print of blood. Clear as day. The dealer took the card laying it on the table, squirted a pump of hand sanitizer on it then began to rub sanitizer and the blood mixture in a circular motion. Flipped the card over and began to smear, trying to dry the card on the felt. Basically smearing the blood in the center of the felt. Put the card back in and started to shuffle.
When asked about a new deck dealer acted as tho that wasn't gonna happen. I can not recall what was said as I was horrified in disbelief. If I recall this dealer has been there since the torch lounge days so I need to ask.
Is this acceptable?
Thank you for the heads up. First the investigation...I have reviewed the tape from the time and table number that was posted. When the cards were checked onto the game at opening there is no mark on the card... which we identified as a red back, 9 of spades. At the time in question, there was a spot on the card on the area where a guest would pinch their card to look at it. Without getting into details of our security cameras, there were no guests bleeding on the game and there was/is no other spotting on table 26 to suggest that anyone was bleeding. In fact, because the mark was red, the dealer did ask the table if anyone had a cut or to check for a cut on their hands or anywhere else on their person.
I cant say 100% if the mark was or wasn't blood...there are other possibilities of what the dried substance could have been.
Now, all that being said, whatever the spot was, the cards should have been removed from the game and replaced with another set of cards. The dealer should have known better and asked that the cards be replaced (that is our policy and it will be reiterated to everyone) and not take it upon himself to clean the card. It also would have helped if guests playing on the game would have insisted the cards be replaced or at the very least made a Supervisor aware of the situation when I/we could have addressed it in real time. Remember, we are working in this environment everyday so we are as concerned as anyone that policy be adhered to and precautions taken.
In concluding, we have been and will continue to maintain our standards for keeping our room sanitized with wipe downs, straw usage and mask wearing. We do ask your help in that task by making us aware of any situation that may be of concern. Thank you again for bringing this to my attention and thank you for the accuracy of the details......Frankie
