Hi Snipers, yes, we will be holding the $25K BBJ qualifier reduction promotion the first Sunday after the BBJ reaches $25,000. This promo has been a guest favorite since we first held it so we will continue it as long as our guests enjoy it! As of now it looks like either Sunday Sept 8th or Sunday Sept 15th will be the next time the BBJ hits $25K!

Kind of a weird question in a way but after playing in Vegas an Atlantic City for mostly all my live play I played a few times at Rivers casino in Schenectady and couldnt stand the vibe. Idk, how to put it but it just felt very "unalive" or I hate to put it this way but it felt like I was playing with a bunch of "hicks." I played at Turning Stone a couple times and I dont remember feeling that way about the room. Can anybody who has played in both rooms tell me if they feel Turning Stones vibe is more like a casino in A/C or LV? Im from NY and would rather stay in the state and play rather than having to move to A/C or cross country to LV. Appreciate it.

I haven't played at Rivers, but it's hard to get much more hick than TS.

Just my opinion, Ive worked in AC, Del, NY and have spent time in PA and LV. Property wide, TS has the feel of any AC casino. The dealers and Supervisors at TS on the whole are some of the best I have ever worked with.

Sir, you are entitled to your opinion, but Casino Player Best of Gaming for 2018 and years past begs to differ with your opinion of the property and Poker room!

I was more referring to the player pool, not the room/staff.

I can tell you with certainty, playing the 20/40 FLH and 50/100 FLH, the crowd is ANYTHING but "hicks".

Agreed, I am not of the opinion that any of our guests are "hicks".

What stakes are you playing?

Rivers has more of a downstate feel to it, some tables can get pretty confrontational over nonsense, the players are less friendly, etc.

At TS the players are more friendly in general and the room is definitely a little nicer and larger. Both rooms are pretty well run but in general the NL and tourney action is probably a little bit better at Rivers, but TS will randomly get some big action games going. Also the 20/40 and 50/100 limit games on Friday at TS are very much worth playing if you play any limit holdem at all.

Rarely higher than 2/5. I don't mind if someone isn't nice but it just seemed like more of a ignorant in a growing up in the country way that's hard for me to explain. Like, you aren't around alot of people growing up and don't have proper manners kind of like what you said. Sorry for complainging but it really made me feel weirded out. I don't remember feeling to much at TS.

Even if I was a 5T reg. being in the ambiance would still mess me up. Just seeing if anybody felt similiar I was raised in Queens though so unsure if you could understand how I feel

I played a tournament weekend at Rivers in August (Tournament + 2 nights of cash) and play at turningstone almost every 50k/100k tournament weekend they have and as I type this i don't really understand what your problem is. Is it that hicks don't give action? Hicks by definition are dumb farmer/nascar yokels that want to give you their money. Big bombastic Johnny Bigballs gamblers of A/C show themselves at every casino now and again. Sure, maybe its more prominent at a destination location like A/C, Foxwoods, Vegas etc. My weekend at Rivers specifically at the 2/5 game had 2 OMC regulars breaking eachothers balls in ****ing hillarious fashion + an indian guy yelling cock any time he lost/won or was spoken to. Maybe you just had a bad night?

Both Rivers and Turning stone are great rooms - Turning Stone wins out once you consider the whole package, mostly because of the higher quality dealers/floor people.

I enjoyed playing at both. Del Lago ain't so bad either, but i don't expect anyone from NYC/Eastern NY to venture that far.

What's the average buy in for the 20/40? Wouldn't mind dipping my toe, but not sure if $2000 is enough (50 big bets)

$1000 is a pretty standard buyin, and most players will be able to reload for another $1000-2000, so bringing $2000 should be fine.

Checked out Turning Stone for the first time on Friday night. I donked off $200 quickly and left making a silly river bluff, however, I ended up +700 because of Blackjack luckily.

I thought it was a nice room and was generally impressed with how big and nice the overall casino was. I remember reading this thread years ago and the complaints were how it wasn't very nice, but it seems like they've really turned it around.

I'm looking forward to coming again on my next trip up to Syracuse.

Frankie- Had to dig a little to figure out the link to the superstacks pdf on the website-both links on the page are to the giveaways pdf, not the one you need (https://www.turningstone.com/uploads...uperstacks.pdf).

Off-topic, but I saw they had a 30/60 FLH game going Saturday night. What gives? Haven't seen that in ages. If that becomes a regular thing, I'd make the drive down from Ottawa for Friday/Saturday night FLH action more often.

Fingers crossed.

When I was there on Friday, there was 50/100 running, as well.

Bigger limit games often run on Fridays there. Usually starts off at 20/40 in the afternoons and bumps up to 50/100, sometimes even larger than that.

Just a little Saturday throw-together game which got bumped to 50 later on. I don't think it will be a weekly thing but it will probably happen more often now that the cold weather is here.

Hey Frankie,

I don’t play a lot of cash at turning stone but just wondering if I can buy in for 300 for any 1-2 nlhe game or is it only the super 1-2 tables? Also is it the same for 2/5?

If I can only buy in for 200 for 1-2, is there anyway you guys would change that? It seems advantageous to the casino to have deeper stacks starting on the table while still allowing people to buy in for shorter if they aren’t confident in their game/ wanna limit losses I guess. Thanks for a reply.
