Rendezvous is my choice too, but it depends on what kind you are looking for. Rendezvous uses a dry rub which is great. If you don't like the dry rub style and prefer wetter style, then you might want to check out some where else.

I'm going to play one of the dailies Tuesday. I know GS has their daily $35s but what do you guys know/ think about these?

Harrah's Tunica
Tunica MS Tuesday
11:00 AM No Limit Texas Holdem $65+$15
No ReBuys
No Add On
Antes Shootout

Hollywood Casino
Tunica MS Tuesday
7:00 PM No Limit Texas Holdem $60
No ReBuys
No Add On

I've never played at the Hollywood, how is it? Are there other tournaments on Tuesday?

The Horseshoe has a $500 added deepstack on Tuesdays, starts at 7pm. $65 after fees and addons. Usually between 30 and 40 runners. Nicely run tourney.

Harrah's used to have a decent Monday tournament they called a deep stack. I've never seen more than a few guys playing 3/6 limit at Hollywood. I'd say you would be better at Goldstrike or Sam's Town maybe for daily tourneys

Sam's Town has a $60 at 11am tuesday guaranteed $1000. Hollywood will be lucky to get 25 players.

No time for a trip report but a few quick notes from the Horse Shoe. I stopped in for a night last Friday (17th) and the 1-3 was crazy good due to a couple of key players. Several good solid players but enough drunks etc. to make it +EV. I played till 2 and after burning a couple of by-ins I managed a +500 session.

The the only NL going the next morning was the 2-5 so I ordered a rack and headed over to pick my seat. I almost sat in, but half the table was 3-5k deep and a 1-3 was opening so I opted to wait. Normally I'd take a shot but after checking out the lineup I was =EV at best and I wasn't buying in above a 100bbs. I play so infrequently these days that that the swings in tougher games aren't as easy to swallow. After a terrible start, I managed a small w in the 1-3 session and finished the trip if a W.

The smoke from the slots sucks but the floor, dealers, cocktails etc. where very good as usual.

Any good poker news out of Tunica for 2011? I am headed there in mid March. We usually play at Harrah's but I want to check out some of the other poker rooms while I am there. After Harrah's and Gold Strike, which poker room would round out a top 3?

I guess Harrah's, Gold Strike & Horseshoe?

Top 3 would be the above - but in the reverse order.

AND -- don't miss the new poker room at the Roadhouse. haha Much smoking at the table and watch out that the guy riding the mechanical bull doesn't see your hand.

Horseshoe, Goldstrike, Harrahs, Samstown, Hollywood and Roadhouse in that order.

Looks like I will be coming down with some others from weds until saturday or sunday.

Do any of the rooms (that will have action) have high BBJs, or high comp rates? Also, are there any good dining deals, other than comped buffets, at any of the tunica casinos?

Sorry I can't help with "pie in the sky" BBJ's just don't keep up with them as I don't let that influence where I play but the shoe, harrahs and the strike will feed you after a couple of hours play and put about $1 an hour on your card, Samstown gives $2.5 an hour on your card for food and Hollywood gives $2 an hour.

Is the comp rate the same in the poker room as the table games at Harrahs? Table games being the lowest table stakes available ($5 or $10). This year we have about 10 people going and not all play poker. If we play for example 2 hours in the casino at poker and black jack, should we all be able to get comps to the buffet upstairs?

Yes to horseshoe and not sure about harrahs but they have been running a promotion "play 30 minutes get a buffet".

Will be staying at the Horseshoe on Saturday March 12 for one night. Anyone know how to get a poker room rate - just call the room or some other way? Are they generally available on Saturday nights? Does playing low limit holdem (3/6 or 4/8) qualify and how many hours are needed?

Thanks for any thoughts -
