I will be in Tunica Jan 16-22. I am mostly a tourney player and was wondering what daily tourneys are the best bang for the buck. I imagine most of them are structured terribly. Also do any of the casinos spread a 1/2 with a $200 max or 3/6 limit

Friday night deep stack at the shoe. There's one at gold strike too. I think it Fri.night as well. Pull up the websites for horseshoe, Harrahs, and gold strike. Those are the only ones worth playing at.

How many 1 3 tables has Harrahs been running on the weekends?

I played at the shoe for the first since moving to the Memphis area on Saturday. I sat down at the 1/3 nl and bought in for 200. Game had two or three weak players, couple of solid players, and a couple in-between. Dealers were good, except one lady almost skipped my turn on a large pot. Had a lot of fun, so I will be going back.

Next promo coming to Harrah's Tunica is a FatBoy give-away. It's not ME being given away, but a motorcycle! Details are still pending, but it will be weekly freerolls where the winners gain entry to the "final". The motorcycle should be given away sometime around April.

Personally, I'd rather have a CASH prize, as you can split those.

It's actually been pretty good lately, 3 or 4 1/3 tables until after midnight on the weekends.

Starting this weekend, they have tables in the walkway outside of the poker room for expected overflow from the cash games in the poker room itself. The tables are already there. Sadly, they look like high-end cheap folding poker tables.

I can't edit the post, but I'll update it.

I'd rather play at Harrah's. Horseshoe spreads more games, but they are nasty stingy with their meal comps. If you have points on your card, they will use them for the comps. Harrah's doesn't. In addition, IMHO, the buffet at Harrah's is better than Horseshoe or Goldstrike.

What are your thoughts on the buffets?

I've tried Harrah's, Horseshoe, GoldStrike (once), Fitzgerald's (once).

My opinions thus far:

1. Harrah's
2. empty
3. Horseshoe and Goldstrike (tied for almost last).
4. Fitzgerald's

I am planning to make my 1st trip to tunica later in the year. I would like to know which place is the best over all for poker and craps. We would like to hit them all for a bit but I would like to stay at the place that will have the best play . I will be there Sun. thru however things go I would also like to play some tournaments. Any thoughts welcome

Well we did stop there one other time but we were only at the GoldStrike and for maybe 3 hours no poker just slots and craps and the free buffet. If the other places are much better that would be something it seemed there was nothing missing from that buffet.

1. The Paula Deen Buffet seems to have a good variety of choices and there always seems to be something for everyone. The chicken pot pie is very good, and their seafood dept seems pretty good (although limited, as they all are). They have steak on Friday nights and crab legs on Saturday night. I was disappointed in their biscuits and gravy during breakfast as they were quite "so so". I expected them to be extra special, but they weren't.

2. I haven't found anything that is close to Paula Deen.

3. Horseshoe has a better selection of food choices than Paula Deen, but everything seemed warm instead of hot. The flavor just wasn't there. They have crab legs on Friday and Saturday night, but the size of the crab legs seems smaller than Harrah's. The food was generally "unremarkable". I've only eaten at Gold Strike once, and I went there on a Friday specifically for crab legs. The crab legs were small. They were also steamed for so long that the legs would bend instead of break, making the "crackers" almost useless. In fairness, I didn't try much else on the buffet, and nothing was "bad", but the size of the crab legs was just "dinky".

4. Fitzgerald's was a disaster. Everything that was fried was extra greasy (like the grease wasn't hot enough). The Chinese food was bland. They had "Hamburger Helper" on the buffet (honestly, I have a picture where they have it marked as hamburger helper. The ambiance was extremely generic and low-budget. Much of the food wasn't "worth" eating, to the point that I left most of it on the plate. I mentioned my disgust of the buffet with the dealers at Harrah's and one told me that Fitzgerald's has one of the best seafood buffets on the weekends. I wasn't enticed enough to venture back over.

Out of the 4, the only place I'd spend money on the food is Harrah's. From my first experience at Fitzgerald's, I'd turn down a free buffet, leave, and drive to Gold Strike or Horseshoe for a free buffet. Neither Horseshoe or Gold Strike is worth leaving to walk next door for the others' food.

In fairness, I've only eaten at Gold Strike and Fitzgerald's once. Gold Strike COULD be better than I'm giving them credit for, simply because I went there on a Friday night specifically FOR crab legs, and they were a let-down.

Barring any "events" that would change the normal day-to-day traffic at any one casino, your best bet for poker is Horseshoe. They will almost always have the most games going. Also, Gold Strike is right next door (a few hundred feet), so you have poker going there too. Roadhouse is on the other side of Horseshoe, but they no longer have a buffet, have no poker to speak of (if any), but do spread lower-limit blackjack and stuff (from what I've heard -- I've never stepped foot in there).

I don't play craps, but I'd expect Horseshoe to have the best number of games too. In addition, there is a shuttle from Horseshoe to Harrah's if you decide you want to try Harrah's. "Free" comps (not taken from your reward points) are easier at Harrah's and Gold Strike than at Horseshoe, at least in my experience. Harrah's is downright loose with freebies.

I've played there once. They have a couple of "big" monthly tournaments, but overall, the poker room is usually close to dead. I don't play craps, so I can't answer that. There are a couple of casinos across the street (Resorts has low limit blackjack games, but the place seemed dead), and there's another one or two over there, but never been in them. I've never eaten at Sam's Town either. When I got my player's card there, I got a free $5 in slots. Gold Strike had a promo as well where I "won" $10 in free slots, but it was match play or something similar.

There is a nice $220 buy in $25K guarantee at 11AM this Saturday(2/11/12) at Samtown. The last time it drew quite a few people and first place was over $14K. There should be even more in it this time since the ME of the WSOP Circuit is at Harrah's that day and there will be a lot of people that can't afford that buy in.

Awesome screenname. Were you playing at the horseshoe the first weekend of the circuit event? Some guy totally made a short bus poker comment then at my table.

Can anyone give me a quick rundown on the TR system? How many points do you earn per hour? I see you need 4,000 points to get to diamond and 11,000 to get to platinum. Is that reward credits or tier points?
