Anyone know how the SnG at Sam's Town are? Do they fill pretty quickly? How are the games?

They are all raked. I go there every other month. Its pretty dead mon, tues, and weds. Thursday starts picking up and the weekend its pretty busy. I think the World Poker Open at the Gold Strike (July 23rd-August 11th) should be good. There arent alot of 10/25 games. I usually play 2/5 and its decent action.

Sam's Town is usually where I go to play. I know they offer SNG there but I have not been there when one was running. I honestly think that not everyone is aware that they offer them. As far as the game goes, it depends on what night. Certain times you will see the local rounders with two or three tourists drawing to the nuts. Other times good LAG games. Hope this helped.

I stayed at Gold Strike a couple of months ago. The room rate was $35/$55 and they didn't have a way to check and see if you put your hours in. I don't know if they have corrected this. I had a positive experience and the poker host, I believe her name is Beth Blevins, was very polite and got us set up with the poker rate.

The food comps were very liberal compared to what I'm used to. I asked for a buffet comp after each session (usually 2-4 hours) and got it every time.

I played at Gold Strike and Horsheshoe and the action was pretty much 4-8 limit and 1-2 NL with a little bit of 2-5. Also there was a 3-6 Omaha8 game going on at Gold Strike semi-regularly over the course of the 3 days I was there.

The action is good if 4-8 or 1-2 is your thing, you won't have to pay for food, and the rooms are super-cheap. Although I have to agree that there aren't really any non-gambling activities.

I enjoyed it.

Got an offer today from Harrahs to visit Tunica for 3 nights for 269$ a person includes room. Seems like a great deal except they pick the days you can go since you are flying on their private jet directly to Tunica and shuttled to the casino. Not sure I like that idea I like having a car and being able to do other things like go and visit Memphis.

Great thread got alot of info. Are all the casinos right next to each other? Would you need a car there ? Any tour buses that leave from Tunica that go to Memphis to sightsee by chance? I can probably answer the last question as no since the casinos don't want you leaving their properties.

Harrah's Tunica is not within walking distance of any other casinos, but they run a shuttle that goes to the complex containing Sheraton/Gold Strike/Horseshoe, so you'd have your choice of 4 casinos without a car (3 with poker rooms).

Without knowing where you are flying from, it's hard to know how good of a deal $269/person is.

Unless things have changed since my last TR, the Shoe has a regular 15/30 game on weekdays that starts at 10AM and changes to 20/40 Friday-Sunday. There was also a 10/20 on the weekend that replaced their ill-fated pink chip game.

Thank you very helpful indeed. I'm from Twin Cities, Minnesota. Sounds like the games are decent enough to head down there and check it out.

No way to know for sure - played the first week of tourneys last year and they had 200 during the week and 300 on the weekend as I recall for the average.

Going again this year from July 24 -31

Does anyone know much about staying in Sam's Town on the poker rate? How strict are they about your hours before you can get the reduced rate?

I'm not sure about Sam's. I only played cards there once and I had an issue of the floor lying to me. I detailed it in a trip report....I can find if it if someone wants.

Best bet to find out about the poker rates is to give the Sam's poker room a call.

Got a deal from Harrah's in Tunica. 250 bucks for a Tues. through Friday stay. Includes flight and room. Do I need a car to hit the other casinos or are there buses/taxis.

There are no taxi's, the busses stop @ midnight. So a car is recommended especially if you want to wander to memphis or hit fast food joints. (not missing anything if you don't go to memphis, armpit of america...)
