My Q is: has there been much more action at the tables and longer waitlists since black friday? Also, has anyone noticed the quality of play go up, ie the online "pros" coming out more than usual?

I also wanted to hit up another casino for poker while im there. What do you guys think of the poker rooms at Caesars/Showboat/Borgata?

Showboat - good room, making an effort to be more player-friendly, and if they can actually keep more than a few games spread during the week, even better. Tournaments are solid, deep stacks (15k) all through the week. I like the floor staff too.

Caesars - blows, period. Barely runs any tournaments, and ****ty fields if they actually run. Cash games are limited to basically 1-2 and 2-5 NL. Only good thing is they're part of the 4-casino Caesars chain BBJ. Other than that, don't waste your time. I'd much rather play at Harrah's.
RE: the Taj. You'll see more players than before Black Friday. Some of that is due to the summer season, some due to online players moving to B&M. The lists aren't any longer because of it because there are more games running.

Re: the other properties. I agree with every word from Scooter.

Honestly, I think the B&M games have gotten easier since Black Friday. If you have a lot of experience it shouldn't be hard to spot some of the people making the transition from on-line to live for the first time and who have yet to understand the differences in the ways the games play.

played the taj saturday night for a lil.

very busy room, there was no O8 goin on but there was at least an interest list (i actually think it was a dead list). got seated for 1/2 in like 10 min.

earlyer ITT i bashed the taj pretty hard for having marked (scratched) cards, tables without cup holders, and the staffs lack of concern for the marked cards

this experience was much better, table was clean and complete with cup holders, the cards looked new ish and i got friendly dealers.

i got the feeling that the taj gets more senior citizens playin in the poker room then any where else in ac. i think i was the only one under 50 at my table lol. can anyone comment on that? was expecting to walk into action city but wound up in nit vill (was it just some table draw run-bad?)

Young players play NL,
Older players play low limit stud, the ,noon to 4pm crowd tends to run thirty years older on average then the midnight to four am crowd.
06-28-2011 , 12:46 AM
Do they ever have sngs?
06-28-2011 , 08:47 AM
The tournaments before midnight generally get a smaller number of tables, down to one. (One being like a sit-n-go) The midnight tournaments get four to five tables on average, the tournaments at other times attract a smaller field, if they field on table, guess it would be like a sit-n-go.

Going to be in ac July 9th-14th and was wondering how is the 1/2nl Sunday-Wednesday from like 2pm-10pm

If the BBJP doesn't hit by then should be quite good action as we'll pick up quite a few players as the bad beat hits 400K

Are these special poker room rates or always/regularly available?
06-28-2011 , 02:54 PM
I think they are poker rates based on availability and other conditions, I read this stuff of a paper posted at the entrance to the poker room today. Call the poker room for more details.

They don't run a 5/10 game, but the 10/20 goes off regularly on weekends.

Not anymore. For awhile it was going at least on Saturdays, but I have been in three Saturdays recently (including Memorial Day weekend), and it didn't go any of the three.

This is terribly sad.

I'll be down there in a couple of weeks. With any luck, the jackpot will hold up and the game will go off. (Don't have much hope tho)

Well, the 10/20 holdem went yesterday, maybe for the first time in months. I played in it from around 8pm until 2:30am when in broke, and it was one of the best games I have ever played in.
07-03-2011 , 09:33 PM
How are the 2/5NL games at Taj? I played it a few times but played it during the day and it seemed like most regs knew each other by name. The same with Caesars.

It is not uncommon to have one 2-5 game where about half the players have hundreds of hours experience playing with each other,

Anyone play the regular $53 daily tournaments on weekends? I'm just wondering how many people play and the fish/reg ratio. If the games are good, I might start going regularly. I kind of miss lower buy-in MTT's after Black Friday.
