Burger is 1-1 comps and has the best burger I have ever had in Atlantic City.

Oh I was misinformed. However I had a pretty ****ty experience with my burger. Asked for medium got well done.

Because not visibly seeing dirt on chips makes them clean, seeing as how bacteria and viruses are microscopic. I love how people just assume since the Borgata's chips are shinny they can't get you sick. Casinos are inherently dirty, end of story.

That being said I love the Taj. It was the first place that I started to regularly play poker in. I play there pretty much whenever I make it down to AC unless I need a change of scenery for a bit. I love their spread of games, NLHE, LHE, Stud, O8 and though I have never played in it I have heard good things about 15/30 2-way. I like the floor people at the Taj and since I play there pretty often I love the dealers (though Pharaoh and Jamal have given me some sick beats [complete action dealers])

Burger is great to eat at, American Kobe Burger with a shake FTW. BIG BOUNCE now that the poker room has synced up their comps system with the rest of the casino it is way better/easier.

It's cool. I have heard many people say they had a bad experience there. I have yet to experience it. If only I ran that good at the tables.

in theory, so I'm told, all the tables do have a choice whether to opt in or out of BBJ...

(the 2-4 players should opt-out until the BBJ gets high!)

One problem may be that there is no camera (that you can replay) on the tables 24/7,

- so you don't really know what really happened at a table that decided for the first time in months to opt-in, when, serendipity, they hit a BBJ a few minutes after a new dealer sat down...

I have news for you,

the selection of games at the Taj is way better than the Borgata or any other AC poker room, - at the low limits...

I haven't eaten at Burger yet, but I have heard very good things about it from several people. The only bad thing perhaps is that it is expensive for a burger. I would think, if your burger came out overdone, you can send it back and get a burger to your liking, since you're paying a premium.

Best poker snack bar I've ever seen. Though it seems, every 2 months they raise the prices. Their NY steak sandwich is very nice.

I <3 Burger too, and the Taj in general. I'll be there a lot over the summer so let's try to keep this thread alive and updated with BBJ stuff and so on.

best thing about the taj is going to the bathroom and wondering if your chips are still gonna be there when you get back

Looking to make my way to the Taj very soon with friends. Never been.

I drove by on my last trip, the Chairman Tower looks very nice.

It doesn't get much better than that if you like stud, especially when the skill level from 1-5 up to 10/20 is basically novice.
Agreed. This is the main reason why I frequent the Taj more than Borgata.
That, and the 5/10 O8 game. I just wish there were more novices & less old, tight, cranky regulars in the 5/10 & 10/20 stud games.

I have to agree with you, the Taj game selection is WAY better than any other AC room , with the exception of Borgata. I always wonder why people rank other rooms higher than Taj (the dirty $1 chips ? Random degens wandering in from the boardwalk ?).
I guess if you play 1/2NL or 2/4 HE only, there's nicer places to play.

The 5/10 HE game is pretty rare at Taj nowadays, it's hit and miss at Borgata. Both have multiple tables of 2/4, 3/6, & 10/20 every day.

What separates the two IMO, is the non-hold 'em game variety. Taj has 1-5, 5/10, & 10/20 stud, and 2/4, 5/10 O8. The smallest non hold 'em game at Borgata is the infamous 10/20 two-way game.

The Taj is the only place I've been to where the chips stick together.

I'd love to see the Taj lose the 2/4 game and go with something like 3/6, 6/12, 10/20, 20/40. Who knows if that would work, but seems better than having 2/4, 3/6, 10/20, 20/40.

If you want to experience this elsewhere in AC, try Caesar's, Showboat, or Bally's.

I can understand people not knowing where it is. There's no signs for it, and the elevator to get up there is hidden. The elevator is pretty much behind the poker cashier, and you get there around the podium. You can also order food from the table from the snack bar runners, but I don't like eating at the table.

Just take your Taj card and ID, and it's comped. Usually the soup or the special is very good, with a few exceptions.

Thanks! I will definately have to check it out next time.

This is a post I had in another thread that I thought also belonged in this thread:

Taj is fine with me. IMO, just need new decent chairs and maybe space the tables a little more and would be fine. Definately get keno out of the room, and maybe relocate the simulcast area to an area close to the poker room. I know there are some degens that like to bet the horses while playing poker, but not enough to warrant keeping it where it is. It is already a tight walk in there already, especially near the cashiers cage. Getting the simulcast out of there might help reduce some of the traffic issues.

They also need to get rid of some stud tables that never have stud played on them and replace them with hold 'em tables.

I guess its just personal experience but my chips were never close to as stuck together at Ballys, Showboat or the Trop as they are when I go to the Taj.

They also stick at the Borgata. And they used to at Foxwoods before they completely changed them out.

Sticky chips create action games. Lots of accidental raising.
05-07-2009 , 10:59 AM
accidental raises are the nuts!

I was playing on-line in a tournament some years ago and had about 30,000 in chips. I liked to bet quickly by hitting the same key. So when I wanted to bet 1,000 I would hit the 1 key 4 times. In a relatively small pot (~2,000) I went to bet 1,111 and the key stuck so it came out 11,111. While I was screaming "No No No ..." at the screen the other guy took his time and eventually folded.

Same thing happened about 3 minutes later. Thats when I foolishly changed my system to 1,234. Though I may have saved on heart attacks.

I would like to go back to the Taj. I played my first live game (5/10) there and felt like I was home. I hear that the 20/40 LHE and up games play very wild - so I was waiting until I got my game calmed down a bit. If anybody wants to comment on the LHE games there and how they compare to the Borgata I would be very interested.

On the weekends, the 20/40 are wild. Up and down 1000 in a down are not uncommon circumstances. You also get to see the same couple people who never sleep or bathe from Fri - Sun.

Don't know how the game plays during the week though.

10/20 is more passive than the 20/40, but still a good game.

15-30-45 2way usually goes Fri and Sat nights. This is stud 8 and omaha 8. I like this game, even though there are a lot of regulars. If the whole table are regulars, it is a boring and nitty game. But usually 3 or more unknowns sit down, and it's a good game. I also like the game because it rakes only $5 / half hour, and you get $3/hr comp. Best of both worlds there. Just be careful when you get raised to 90 or 3bet to 135 on the river. Always always the nuts.
