I figured that he'd kill it off and spread 10/20 half-kill & pink chip O8.

Was it 3/6 or 10/20 2-way going at Taj this week ?
I'm surprised that Taj would want a 10/20 & 15/30/45 2-way.
I can't say if it's a done deal (I'm really not a regular or a fan of the 10/20 game tbh) but I did hear from a few folks of taking the game back to the Taj and I also saw the game being played there this week; from where I was sitting, it appeared to be a full game. Not sure if they spread a 3/6, though.

I recall last time i was checking out the games at the computer and some guy asked for 40/80 stud and the person who was at the podium said we don't have it but we do have 1/5 stud LOL. Needless to say that guy said no thanks.
Ahhh, the people at the podium.

The highest limit stud game is $40/80 (which gets off about 5 days a week), and once in awhile they'll have $80/160.

As for NL: I think it's 5-10 but don't quote me on it.

I've played in both but I don't ever remember seeing both games going at the same time with any consistency. IIRC back before the Borgata opened I remember playing in just the 10/20 2-way at the Taj. The 15/30/45 game replaced the 10/20 when a) the 10/20 moved to the Borgata b) the 15/30/45Stud8 game/players moved over to the Taj and morphed that game into the 15/30/45 2-way.

Now I might be completely wrong...but it doesn't make sense to have a 5/10 O8 game, 10/20 2-way game and a 15/30/45 game all at the Taj? That's a bit hi/lo overkill no? Yes you are very correct they play MUCH different than the 15/30/45 (which is a BIGGER game). Great if it's sustainable, I'll just be in wait and see mode.

Ready?...

The Tropicana started the $15/30/45 game that originally started out as just a Stud8 game. Eventually, they added O8. The game lasted for several years. Then, the "group" (ya wanna talk about nits? Jesus, Mary and Joseph!) decided that they wanted to take the game elsewhere so they picked the Taj (I will not get into why they chose the Taj, but they had their reasons so we'll leave it at that). In my best guestimation, I will say that it's been a good 5 years now that the Taj has spread the $15/30/45 game.

During that time, there was also a $10/20 two-way game with a Kill on both rounds. Both games went with regularity, and in fact, the $15/30/45 game was MUCH stronger at that time, but, in all honesty, it had nothing to do with any of the other games that were being played at the Taj...I'm just pointing something out, is all.

Also at that time, was the $5/10 O8 game. Only real difference between now and then is, now, you will see two, sometimes three $5/10 games going whereas before it was just the one game over by the cage. But all three games were striving.

When the Borg opened their new poker room, the $10/20 players decided to move over there (why, I don't know). There was also talk about the $15/30/45 game going over there, as well, but as you can see, the game stayed put at the Taj.

Personally, I want both rooms to survive (Taj and the Borg) because competition is a good thing for the customer.

Thank you for that history lesson

I'd love to see both rooms survive and agree with you 200% that competition is a good thing for the customer especially when it comes to hi/lo games!

I remember that original Tropicana 15/30 hi-lo game. We used to play the 10/20LHE game right next to it. That was a very inbred game. Same old nits, sitting there waiting for the occasional idiot to sit down. Every now & then one (or more) of those players would join the 10/20 game.

I'd be interested to hear what your idea of a nit is...cause you couldn't have gotten a bigger bunch of clueless idiots than the regs. who used to play at the Trop. (why do you think I pushed to add O8?).

No fair to tease like that. Please expound.

This could have been further back - maybe before you played there. It was still just hi-lo, when I abandoned the Trop.

Did we ever meet? I was there every weekend, either playing 10/20 or PCG. I moved over to the Borg, along with most of the dealers/floor people when it opened.

Can someone tell me what games usually run on Sunday during the day and night at Taj ? What about Monday as well? I know that 2-4 , 3-6 limit and 1-2 and 2-5 NL runs but what other games run? Also, can someone tell me where the high limit games are located at Taj? Is it when u go in and make a right, the left side of the room? I notice there is like 2 tables separated from everyone else.

Taj lineup is usually ;

2/4, 3/6, 10/20, 20/40 LHE
2/4, 5/10 O8
1-5, 5/10, 10/20, 20/40, 40/80 7CS
15/30/45 OE
1/2, 2/5 NLHE
I've seen 1/2 PLO during the summer & there are reports of a 10/20 OE game
now.

The low limit side is located in the front of the room after the main poker room entrance. High limit tables are closest to the street entrance.

Have you ever attended any -ARGE events?

I got a postcard from the Taj saying that I have $25 in comps expiring in 3 weeks. I am pretty sure I didn't have more than a couple bucks left on my account, so are they just giving everyone a free $25? Anyone else get this?

I went once when i first turned 21, the dealers dont seem nearly as friendly as other casinos such as Harrahs and Trop but i dont come for the dealers, and i do prefer a card shuffler. Other than that the competition wasnt bad, seems like it attracts a lot of older folk who like to throw money away, but i dont think id play there again, many better options IMO.

very interested in the 2/4 O/8.
One of my online bros from Toronto's our gang's resident O/8 specialist.
He's a semi-reg @ 1/2 @ stars [runs mildly profitable], we met in person in Vegas in Sept.. He just started playing live this year he held his own
in the 4/8 O/8 @ the Orleans in Vegas. We were gonna [tentatively, AORN] meet up 4 new years' in AC, all i could find elsewhere was pink-chip and 5/10.
U think they might spread 2/4 O/8 on new years' eve?

Been 2 the Taj myself once, but my usual hangout was the 1-5 stud @ the Trop or Bally's 5-6 years ago, b4 the internetz boom. I'd be happy w/ 2/4 lhe or 1/2 n/l myself.

I went one new years' eve and played the 1-5 @ the Trop, they gave out cheep party hats n little noisemakers. Do they still do that in AC?
[yeah, I know, but teh alternative is hanging out @ home in Scranton.]

Going by what you just wrote, and strictly from the perspective of earning...I would think this place was a pretty damn good option.

Every time I've been to Taj I've seen the 2/4 O8 going. It's the second table in on the right on the low limit side. It has a half kill to 3/6 when a pot >$40 is scooped. Word of advice though, the player base in that game is very similar to 1-5 stud...old. I've literally seen chairs removed from the table so people can play in their motorized wheelchairs.

I've never been to AC on New Years' Eve, so I can't comment on the little party hats & cheap noisemakers.

It's really weird cause unless you're inside of a club, they don't do the 10 second countdown to 12 o'clock; aside from at the valet, there are no clocks in any part of the casino (inc. the poker rooms) and therefore, there is no such thing as time (for the obv. reasons). But, that's not to say that you couldn't bring your own party.

Oh, and if you want to play 2/4 O8, all you have to do is ask someone at the podium to start an interest list if there isn't already a game going. But, because it will be a very busy holiday...you should expect the room to be quite packed and they might not have a table available so get there as early as you can.

Ok, but no names. A regular in the game was not very well-liked, he was constantly throwing cards, cussing, and was overall a real pain to play with. He was also thrown out of the Taj for life a few years prior. Knowing that, the players in the game decided that if they moved the game to the Taj, then they would finally be rid of this guy. (before you go and ask the next question...I do not know why he was banned from the Taj).
