In Taj's defense, the problem with bums is everywhere in AC not just there. I get some sob story/hit up for money or cigarettes almost every time I step outside of the poker room at Borgata also.

Though in my experience, the issue is exponentially worse at Taj than at other places.

I can't believe just how optimistic I was, and just how let down I am. Shame. Is it better to have the old crappy room than to have no room at all?

I believe it is better to have the room open than to have no room at all, because, even with just 10-20 games running(or however many games they might get), that's still enough to make the other rooms in AC (mainly Borgata) to cater more to their existing customers. So, in general, yes, competition is always a good thing for the consumer.

Agreed. The Borgata already seems to be toying with cutting back on their customer service significantly. Removed free food completely on Sundays, cut back on giving black cards out all together unless you earn the full $1,000 comp dollars, increased the fees on free rooms by 300%, increasingly exorbitant rates on weekend rooms, and not to mention the continuously decreasing competence of the floor and dealer staff. Things will only continue to get worse if more rooms in AC shut their doors. A market monopoly in the area is the worst thing that could happen for the players, as it just gives the green light to the Borg to fleece their customers for the absolute max possible.

A little market competition is always a good thing! While historically I haven't been a fan of the Taj personally (never played there during its heyday), would love to see them aggressively try to improve and cut their own little share out of the market. Would be good for all the players who play at the Taj, as well as for other players at their respective rooms.

Great post! Which is why I'm hoping the Taj really listens to feedback and focuses on player retention. I for one would love to see the resurgence of the now defunct 5/10 O8 game that was one of the staples of the old Taj old poker room.

What we really need is the Pokerstars branded poker room to open up, T. Taj is never going to compete with Borgata, even though I wish it would.

Anyone there for the 'official' grand opening/ribbon cutting today? Would hope it's somewhat better than what people posted about last week!

Just watched it. How sad that nobody showed up.

What they should have/could have done was extended invites to players who they had in the system as Trump Card holders before the room closed. Surely their marketing department could have done this and sent something out.

Do they not have any money in the budget to market the room out to existing players and/or reach out to new players? I for one don't enjoy playing at the Borgata (service had declined, comps have dwindled, no mixed games under 10/20 at all) and spend most of my time at PARX when I do play live.

Saddnez...

Well, they did send that postcard a week or so ago...

But they seem to have rediscovered the promotional email in recent weeks, and none of the ones I've gotten trumpeted the poker room even though that's mainly where my card has been used.

I'm going to Borgata tomorrow, and have been planning on stopping by to check out the Taj on my way out on Sunday. From reports here, I'm wondering if it's worthwhile. Anybody have opinions?

thanks to Tommy Gitto and his staff for a real good night...played for 8+ hours yesterday...room was very active with mostly 1/2 tables, some 2/4/6 limit games, a 5/10 stud game and we even got a 3/6 O8 full kill game going which was a friggin blast...dealers were friendly and professional and the managers were helpful and right on top of players as soon as they sat down to take their cards...hours were accurately calculated and the wifi in this room is great...there is currently a $100 high hand every half hour promo from 10am-10pm for any full house or better followed by a $100 cracked aces promo...I will definitely be back next weekend to spend some more time...

no kool aid pal...just reporting on my own personal experience this past weekend...service was very good IMO and i'll be there again this Fri-Mon...if you disagree, go play somewhere else...and if the place starts to go downhill, there are always plenty of other options for me as well...competition can never be a bad thing tho...
