I doubt this. Trop was second to Taj, and then third when borg came. I liked the room back then, but overtake the borgata? Even with their comp troubles, no.

On Facebook Trop today said that the reopening will be “in a couple of weeks”.

(If you want to see that post it is on the Trop’s wall in a reply to a question asked under the the two teachers thread)

There was definitely a time in the early 2000s when The Trop was the biggest room in the city. Taj may have had more tables overall, but Trop had more players. Then it started to turn in the mid 2000s.

I remember they used to have a relatively cheap Saturday night tourney with 10k guaranteed for first that had a huge amount of runners and it has to be one of the bigger tournaments in terms of guaranteed first that regularly ran at any point during the city's history.

It’s hard to confirm anything with Trop Poker and it seems that the plans can change at the drop of a hat. But dealers and floor people were brought in today and told that Friday reopening is the plan. I got the word from my dealer friends and they sent along photos of themselves and their colleagues in the room.

Trop’s Twitter account is still silent about it, and Bravo doesn’t show it, but it’s on Trop’s webpage - reopening on Friday

I called them and there was no answer at the poker room number on the Bravo.

I transferred to the operator who said she was surprised that it was on the website, that it was waiting for gaming commission approval ("I'm waiting for the email," she said).

I was debating on driving out if it was early enough but if it's late I won't have the time.

A lot of familiar faces and the room was running pretty smoothly.

One negative: there’s a glitch in the system for rewards and tier credits for poker play. I received a small fraction of the credits that I was due and it will probably screw up my future room offers. If you play there be sure to go the kiosk to check your balances.

I played yesterday for 7 hours and I only received a partial amount of tier credits and comps owed as well. So weird. I’ll talk to the floor next time I play there again to ask what’s going on.
