FYI, for whoever asked if 1/3NL ever runs here, there are currently two 1/3NL games running this Friday night!

Thinking of making a Friday trip down to AC sometime soon. How are the games here (versus Borgata and Harrah’s)? I actually am not a fan of Borgata for various reasons, so would like to check out one of the other options. Any insights appreciated!

I feel the games are similar to Harrahs. For the most part, the games are soft but some of the games are filled with tight nitty regulars. Although some of the weekend games can be good with some recs. They mainly run 1/2 and 1/2 NL and 3/6 LHE. Me personally, I think the games at Borgata are better but if you want to play relaxed poker and not be put in very difficult spots, Tropicana is a good choice. And I love that the boardwalk is right nearby!

I made my first trip to Tropicana in over 10 years this weekend, and was feeling nostalgic about the old poker room that I played in during the poker boom, but for the life of me I couldn't picture where the old room used to be located.

Does anyone remember where the room was? Is it approximately located near where the sportsbook and North Tower bar are at now?

Leaving the current poker room it was located just past the men’s room and cashier and between Boogie Nights and the escalator to the second floor.

I was at the laurel lounge at Trop in January and it was decent enough. They didn't have a ton of food options but it was hot food with dessert. Good place to eat and watch a football game (instead of crowding around the sports room). Not sure about free alcoholic drinks but all soda, coffee, etc was obviously free. I think Sunday opened something like 12 PM but Saturdays are something like 3 PM to 9 PM (don't quote me on that).

I was at the Laurel Lounge on Friday. It opened at 3pm. The back of the line went beyond the Mrs. Fields cookie store. The line to get in didn't start moving right away because they had to let all the 7* people get in first.

My friend and I sat at a table and waited for the waitress to take our drink order. We then got up to get in the food line. The first thing we noticed was that there were no food plates on the counter. We asked someone where they got their plates. They told us that when the waitress brings you your drink order, she will bring you your plates.

We went back to our table and the waitress did bring us our drinks and she gave us our plates. One plate was a regular size plate and the other was a smaller plate. We were told that we were only allowed one trip with each plate to the food line!

The food choices weren't that great. I had a scoop of white rice and piled on the beef stew since I was only allowed one trip. For my desert I had some cookies and a piece of chocolate cake.

Has anyone played there recently?

I usually play at Borgata, but I'll be staying at the Trop this weekend. Any room reviews?

We went in March -- it was okay, definitely feels a little bit sketchy around 3am. The cage situation is frustrating -- the cage right next door is not open 100%, so we got sent to the main casino cage at some point. Carrying racks of chips across the casino floor in the middle of the night wasn't exactly delightful, especially having watched their security have a tough time dealing with a guest who got a little bit belligerent.

I specifically asked a floor about the pink chip game (I never got to see it, unfortunately, my first trip to AC was 2011 by the time it was already gone), and he said zero chance they would ever start it again, even if there were 9 people ready and willing to play. I think it's probably partly due to chip logistics (I don't think they keep racks of pink chips in the cage nearby), but he also said the dealers hated it, since hands took so long.

Anyway, if you like to play anything other than 1/2NL (and the occasional 1/3NL or 3/6 limit), you're probably better off sticking to the Borgata.

I play there. I am back to getting a couple free rooms a month and we prefer it to be there than Harrah's since my wife (and kid when he tags along) can play on the Boardwalk.

They don't have any mix of games but it's fine for $1/2 (and a low limit game runs from time to time). They may get a $2/5 game now and again but I haven't seen it. Maybe weekends since I usually am there on weekdays.

It's fine for what it is and I am about to book a two-night getaway for June.

I used to play in the pink game, RIP.

It's ok because there is 0 chance of ever getting the people for it, anyways.

It's always nice every year or so to reminisce about playing the pink chip game at the trop, 15-30-45 at taj, pink chip game for a very brief time at horseshoe Baltimore, and various OE games in AC and Maryland Live. Now I see it's limit Big O at Borg, which has lately bored me.

Eventually we'll all be gone and no one will even remember the Taj had a room. Oh sad.

"Taj", where is that one at? Someone open a new casino somewhere?

Not only will they forget Taj had a room, they won't even know what Taj casino was.
