Can anyone fill me in as to whether TI poker room will suit me. I dont really like the bigger rooms like the Venetian etc..

I plan on only playing $1-3 and I like to have a few drinks while playing. I would have been a 50nl grinder until a few years ago so I assume I could beat $1-2 more or less anywhere on the strip but I would obviously prefer to be laying with the least serious player possible.

The Monte Carlo is my usual haunt and I loved the place but I feel I need a change on this trip.

No.

Geez, just check Bravo. They never have more than two tables going.

I would be content if I was in a room with 2 NL tables going. Is it quieter than the MC?

Sounds like Mandalay Bay/Luxor/Excalibur might be good options for you. They are all in casinos next to each other and none of the rooms are big at all. Luxor and Excalibur will usually have 1 or 2 games.

But the big rooms aren't scary unless you delude yourself into thinking that. The Venetian 1-2 NL game is actually smaller than the game at TI which is 1-3 NL with a $500 max buy-in. If you struggle in the 1-2 or 1-3 games at places like Bellagio and Venetian then you're going to struggle in any room with a NL game in town.

Personally, I've never played at TI so I can't comment specifically on that room. Where will you be staying?

I dont think I will struggle at any $1-3 game in Vegas but any time I played the Venetian or MGM I found that there was 2/3 guys on the table who would possibly be winners at the level.

The MC never had this imo. I am strongly thinking of staying in Treasure Island. I would like a place with a good room rate aswell for Poker.

I suppose I should mention the budget for 4 weekend nights is $600 and I would prefer play where I stay for ease of the lads who wont be gambling knowing where I am.

Sorry, I mis-read. I thought you said you like bigger rooms.

TI is often very quiet. It might just be you and two unoccupied dealers standing around. Especially in the afternoons. They will sometimes get 10 or 20 guys drift in for tournaments. But as poker rooms go, it's one of the quieter ones, with a glass wall separating it from the casino. Harrah's is probably the quietest one left if they're still in the same location, which was a completely separate room, like a high limit room.

TI might have a high max buy-in, but in my limited experience recently, nobody buys in for that much.

That is not true Pig. I have been playing there the whole month trying to qualify for the 100K freeroll and they have a couple good games going at all times. You're talking out of your ass. It's a deep buy in and there's a lot of money on the table. Game starts late but it's a good game

lol... a couple of "good" games doesn't a busy room make.

Smallest room in vegas. What do you expect. It's small with a great crew, a new manager. So it's not Bellagio, big deal. Friendly room. I like it. Go to Bellagio where they treat you like ****. Enjoy

You get 10 K in starting chips. The $10 goes to the pot. None to the house. I asked. So the pot is bigger and the rake is lower. 23%

I don't think the Mirage is tough and that's nearby.

You could always just play at TI and leave if you hate the table.

I used to hear that Monte Carlo had nitty games. But in any case, I think that finding great tables has more to do with luck than anything else. I used to hear that MGM and Planet Hollywood had great games and most of the time I played in those rooms I was disappointed.

I'm not a fan of the high buy-ins. They're great for regs that are waiting to cooler people with the nuts.

Meh, if they have a new promo attracting bonus-chasers that might me a different crowd. During the Series, it was exactly the way I described.

It's a promo room. What the game looks like depends on their promos at the time.
It doesn't take but a handful of nits to drastically change the game.

Since when did they make stealing a crime?

Didn't know the guy, but a poker manager stealing from players is nothing new. Don't worry, he will be poker room manager of Luxor, Excalibur or Strat within a few years.

It does feel like this should be a $1/2nl room based on size and the level of the hotel. A $1/3nl games feels too big for the clientele here.

What did the rake used to be? 4+2 or 5+1?

The promos are the usual junk. I haven't played here in a LONG time. Do they get more than 2 tables here much?

They used to give away a lot for a rake back promo. Used to just drain the bank

Hey all, I was just down in Vegas last week and my wife and I played poker live for the first time at TI. We visited most of the poker rooms on the strip and felt like the TI was the best fit due to it being smaller and quiet, nice people, and tournament price and structure.

Since we're new we stopped by early in the morning to sit down with a dealer and just ask some questions that would be hard to ask during a game. Everyone in the room was friendly. We came back and played the 2PM tournament two days in a row ($65, 10k chips).

The room was usually pretty empty, I never saw a cash game going but I didn't stop by very late in the day. They said only two or three people had showed up for the 10am tournament. The 2PM is a guaranteed $1000 prize pool, and I think on both days the buyins didn't cover the guarantee. Each day there were around 15 people, and most of them show up either right at 2:00 or in the next half hour or so since you can buy in late.

The first day I was pretty nervous and didn't play well, the second day the nerves were gone and the group was a little more chatty before the game so I felt more comfortable. Ended up in the final five with (I think) second largest stack and let the chip leader psyche me out and made a really stupid move to lose my stack to him. I probably could have folded my way into the money

This room is nice and quiet and smoke free, compared to some of the other poker rooms that are more open to the casino floor.

Starting this week all their tournaments are guaranteed which will be good to bring more people in. But they do some kinda promotion for the cash game

Just checked Bravo and it says they have 1-2 NL instead of 1-3 NL. Why make this change? They still have the $500 max buy-in. Personally, I disagree with people who say there is no difference between 1-2 blinds and 1-3 blinds.
