I was thankful that the mix game ran when I was there on May 12th (Mother's Day). If the douche playing NLHE who made fun of us for playing, but didn't have the balls to play posts in this thread, screw you buddy!

Generally speaking though, they really should just place some non-smoking slots/video poker there because the traffic is really bad. Seems to be going the way of the Trop. If that happened though, I would feel bad for the dealers who were generally great, one of which used to deal the mix game when it was at IP.

TI is a great...

place to park when you want to play at Venetian.

Pay to play didn't work at the Trop, so what makes them think it's going
to work here?

I don't know whether it will work or not, but why would you compare it to the promo at the trop when the old TI promo ran concurrently with the one at tropicana and was much more successful.

I can tell you the game was much better under the old hours promo than it was when I played it with the freeroll+ top 4 spots paid.

+1

Whatever your feelings about this promo the fact is they had games and they were able to hold them over. While they did have some other promotions going at the same time, for the most part the cash back program was the main focus at the TI. This was in stark contrast to the Tropicana who threw literally everything up against the wall to see what would stick from hiring Jamie Gold, running games named after people most could care less about to free hand jobs for every 2 7 that flopped a full house.

From a player's perspective let the arguments commence over whether the extra rake is beatable and whether or not the game during this promotion are any good. But judging from the room's perspective I don't see any reason they shouldn't return to this promotion.

Did the pay to play even work last time this casino tried it? I thought they were hoping to start 3-6 limit and hired extra dealers because they anticipated having a significant increase in business, only to find that the room was still struggling.

They have had some 2-6 limit going recently. I wonder how much of an impact the pay to play will have on that game, which didn't exist at all when they had the pay to play before.

You mean 2/4? I think it wasn't eligible for the promotion before.

3/6 limit was eligible. I'm not sure if 2/6 limit was and they didn't even have that game running at the time.

I think you're right that 2/4 wasn't eligible but I wasn't talking about 2/4.

Anyone interested in grinding out some 3-6 or 4-8limit sessions 3/13-3/23. May as well take that free $$$ while they are offering it.

Can confirm, but they raised the entry fee from $55 to $65.

Played a bunch at TI over the last couple of days. The 2pm and 10pm are still $65 to enter with the $1000 guarantee prize pool, but the starting stack is now 10k (instead of 5500).

Also, they started something that I've never heard of before. Maybe it's common elsewhere. I don't know. The 7pm tournament (and maybe another one during the day - not sure) works like this: $50 for 7k in chips. 20 minute levels. At the end of level 7, the tournament stops. Players get $10 for every 2k in chips. They call it the "everyone cashes" tournament.

This was a private 2-table game set up for us, mostly members of some poker journalism sites. There was a rep from Poker Atlas there as well. We chose 8 games from a list of 20 or so. Off the top of my head we played - Badugi, 2-7 Triple Draw, 3-2-1 Omaha, Double Board Omaha, 5-card Draw 8/b, Crazy Pineapple Ocean.

I don't know who that is but you're right it was open, just started and run for us. My friend was one of those invited, me and another tagged along.

edit: just looked him up on here. Not sure who he was, may have been at the other table, but yeah there were AVP folks there.

LVM was very active on 2p2 until he gave up on it and stuck just with AVP.
