You can try asking in this thread - http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/10...1-3-a-1602410/

Also that forum has a sticky thread for people looking for roommates in Vegas.

This promo has been "going" for years.

There is NOT "always" a game. Go by there before 5 pm on a weekday and you might find an empty place unless a tournament is imminent.

On average, the game sucks. Notice I didn't say "games". Occasionally tourists will play, but it's mostly promo grinders.

Anybody ever check out the TI promotion where you get paid $10 for every 10 hours of play, plus $2 in food comps per hour?

The consensus on these promos seem to be that the game quality is poor which makes up for the promo money however YMMV.

Beware the TI promo!! There is fine print that includes that you don't get paid until Sunday afternoon(?), which is exactly when most Players are on a plane going home from their visit.

There are local Players that just sit there reading books, waiting for AA/KK, while they get their hours in. I agree the quality of the game in that room can swing from just paying rake to very good.

I found the staff very good but also didn't run into any testy moments. I was staying there and always checked out the game before I walked across and played the Venetian. GL

Great promo, unfortunately no table selection. If you love battling nits then TI is for you.

Effective Sunday August 18 the TI "get paid to play" promotion will be discontinued.

They tried as hard as they could to destroy that room.

Can you tell me your source of this information? The pay to play promo is still featured on their bravo listing.

I don't see the Promo on bravo anymore. It also says food comps $1/hr. Wasn't it like $2? I thought the only reason a game ran at Treasure Island was because of this promo? Wonder what happened.

Source is an employee who works there... but the information is now updated on Bravo.

New promos are in effect including aces cracked, most pots won, and high hand competition.

In addition to the 1-3 NL game they are now trying to offer 1-1 NL (40-200 buy in) as well as 2-4 limit w/ half kill. The limit game will have $3 max rake.

The $88 tourament has been replaced by a $45 tournament with $5 dealer add on and will run 5 times a day.

As for the reasons for these changes, something needed to be done. The room was dark for much of this past week as even the pay to play regulars were not showing up and there were literally zero games running. Even the $88 tournament has rarely been going as of late.

Something needed to be done. Whether this works or not will remain to be seen, but pay to play had clearly run its course.

I liked the Dealers/Floor staff when I was there .. not sure who was really running the show but felt like the staff knew it should/could be better. Games were awful when the regs were there but pretty exciting when 'others' wandered in.

Not sure that drastic changes during the worst poker months of the year .. July/Aug .. will show any reliable results. They should seriously look at some sort of football associated promos. Food is right there outside the room too ... could be better. GL

There are going to be splash pots during NFL and Golden Knights games. No firm details yet.

Years ago it was a thriving room, my favorite room in Vegas. Then they started wrecking it with bad promos. I figured the last straw was when they moved it from the high traffic hallway to the dungeon, but it still managed to hang on by a thread.

They should definitely move the poker room back to a high traffic area, get rid of all the promos, and then put a 2005 calendar up on the wall to complete the self-delusion.

Offering 1/1NL might actually attract a couple new players. I feel like once a month somebody posts here to ask where they can find 1/1 on the Strip.

I always liked the place since it was the first place I ever played casino poker - one of the daily tournaments way back - but last time I was in Vegas you pretty much had to know to look behind the hot dog stand to find it. They couldn't do much more to put it in a hidden spot.

I think a beginners game could be a good addition. Perhaps even do a couple "we'll teach you to play poker" sessions a week.

Maybe they can find a host like Neeme, but have the game on Saturday starting in the afternoon so the tourists play in it.

just saw this (recently being run out of NVG , I popped over here.)

OP news was pretty odd. TI tried same thing a year or so ago. Since they stopped running it, I assumed it didn't work.

Was never in Vegas during the previous pay to play promo, but I'd think their that promo creates the absolute nittiest games on the strip.

Stuff like this could work, but rooms maybe should do something to balance the local to tourist ratio in the games.

Small example would be the Trash Talk 2/5 game Hard Rock was running many years back. But that's just an example, really they could spread anything that is unique on the strip AND will appeal to tourists especially ones from Oklahoma, Texas and anyone younger than 25 from Europe (long list of obvious games that would meet both requirements)

Question. I just read through the NGCB card game regs (could not find any specfic reg to poker) but coudn't find answer to this.

Do new player banked poker variants/games have to be approved before being spread? If not, could room spread literally anything they wanted as long as rules were posted?

lol, you linked a new thread that you started that has no other posts but your own, and has no extra info on top of "TI poker room closing" other than some unknown time this week, which you could have clearly added in the post above. Value added posting at its finest.
