I’ve now heard it from someone in a suit and tie. Blue Heron will return poker. Table # and such still TBD.

Glad to hear its coming back but for people like me in the city, it's still too big of a drive.

Happy to have CNE opening soon but I really wish Woodbine would bring back poker.

Anyone notice that Toronto and Montreal get so much discussion on this forum? Big cities but 2+2 is an international site. Seems non proportional.

Here's the Toronto news.

The Ex opened yesterday. And while (with some justice) we disparage the venue and criticize the inexperienced dealers, the action can be unparalleled. I arrived at 8.30 last night and they had 2 NL lists (1-2 & 2-5), LHE up to 20-40 with a half kill, and Omaha. I opted for the Omaha, which had three tables, all 20-40 limit with a half kill (after any pot went to 400). I was seated at one of these by 9 where there was a 30ish guy whose strategy was to bloat every pot and who had put the rest of the table in the mood to gamble. So there were very few pots that didn't start out 30-60 and were three- or four-bet preflop with 6-8 players staying to take the flop. That meant premium starting hands were in for a tough time and the damnedest things wound up winning (8863 took one of the biggest pots of the night with a six-high straight -- and a couple of hands later a 7-high flush draw stayed to the river to run down my nut straight).

But when you did rake a pot it was enough to keep you in action for the next while.

The cannon had about 3500 in front of him when I sat down. He rebought four times for about that much, then for 400 around 2 a.m. and left when that was quickly gone.

Two further notes about the CNE poker room. They're now allowing live straddles. (When it wasn't a kill pot, I several times saw straddles that produced $600-700 preflop pots.) And the rules were being interpreted more loosely than in the past. (E.g., players who raised out of turn were told that they had to act in turn but could now fold, call, or raise.)

I'll be in Toronto next weekend. I've never played at the CNE, from what I remember being told the NL games have some weird cap rules right? Is it $100 max a street or something along those lines? 2/5 and above seems pretty much useless if that's the case.

If by useless you mean amazing then you are correct

Exhibition Omaha sounds like Port Perry. I’ve seen almost 20k on a 20-40 half kill game there.

Hi all, heading to Niagra Falls in a few hours, are there any good tournaments in that area?

Anyone know if it is true that the casino in
Innisfil has poker?

If yes, any details? Number of tables? Games spread?

Thanks

You and others were misled by Gateway about having poker as it is only the unbeatable pit games such as Three Card Poker. I walked in the area where they used to have poker tables years ago and it continues to be nothing but electronic machines.

Gateway has eliminated the poker tournaments at Casino Rama and kicked out the cash game players from the private quiet poker room into the noisy slot area, with $10 max rake for 1/2 and the BBJ collected in the same box as the rake!

I noticed that Pickering Resort and Casino is hiring but has anyone heard any update on whether or not they will have a poker room? Seems like they will have a soft opening early Q1 2020

Pickering has confirmed they will not have a poker room. Blue Heron should be opening their new poker room by the end of the year.

I know all signs pointed to them not having it in recent weeks but I missed them officially confirm this. Where/what did they exactly say?

Seems like they are copying the style of playground poker with the whole USB port and food menu thing. Just need to ensure they have enough tables so wait times are never longer than half an hour.

Any update on the Blue Heron? Going to be back in Ontario for holidays and was hoping to check it out.
