I assume when you say rake you actually mean the rake. So, why would anyone play a game with so much money coming off the table? Unless the pot sizes are 50-60k+++

Last week a friend told me he heard this place is running, but he didn't know much. The website still won't load. When it was first announced I walked by the address one day. It looked like a residence; no indications otherwise. I didn't knock.

Anyone else heard anything?

Almost all players that play in the game are big time fish. Also most players I assume are criminals of one type or another. I'm including owners of illegal games who by the government definition aren't different than pimps or bookies.

The tourney is NLH but the structure is ridiculous.
The blinds are absurd so it's a shovefest early, and I believe it's a triple shootout or something silly.

Probably Brantford is the closest place. Your commute will be an hour or so. I don't know if they are hiring regularly. Casino Niagara and Fallsview are about the same distance as Port Perry from the downtown but traffic can be terrible to Niagara Falls if you have to go during Toronto rush hour hours. Also I don't know if they are hiring. The EX hires anybody that passes their dealing test but you have to pass the test by about July 1st as you have to clear a security check and that takes close to a month to get your clearance.

The 70%, including myself took turns siphoning chips from the gamblers. I did get lucky hitting flushes, a straight, and trips within my 2 hours session. I was aiming to double my starting amount but left happily with a 75% increase. As mentioned before, only ABC poker is really needed, 1 or 2 players will try re-raising to try to get a check on the turn and/or river but you can quickly figure out who those players are.
I see no one has posted here about the CNE this year (or started a separate thread), even though it's been going for a week and a half. I've lost interest since the rake increase of 2013 and so far I'm pretty busy this Aug. with other things. Has anyone been?

CNE has just been a let down every year, until they get NLHE then they'll continue to lose players every year. I am still curious about someone's TR if you've been.

The dealers are so atrocious there even at limit that NLH would be even scarier

I posted in the CNE thread, but will post here as well. I am looking to buy seats to tomorrow's tournament at the CNE (Aug 12). Please PM me if you are interested in selling your seat. Looking to buy for some friends if possible.

ive basically been to the cne every day its been open an the 5/10 game is absolutely fantastic... 7 players to the flop, capped action multi way even at 7 dollars max rake this game is easily beatable

mon tues wed the game is more reg heavy and tougher than the weekend

i just came from there and there was this one guy at the table who for 6-7 hrs played almost every single hand and prob ran through 1k playing 5/10 (and hes there everyday)

but yeah games are good since almost everyone approaches limit like no limit

I didn't think the 100/2 players did exist anymore but the EX has maybe the worst poker players of any casino in the GTA. I think it's because limit isn't played anymore and some of the bad degenerates can't get out to Port Perry or Brantford. Also what time of the day were these insane games? Thanks.

Anyone else?
Yes this does exists.

This is no longer true since last week, as I've seen a bunch of poker pros for the first time ever at the CNE Casino. At least three of them have over $1 mirrion in poker winnings.

Wednesday, September 2 is the last semi-final for the $128,000 Finals. One player misplaced his transferable entry card and was not allowed to play today. The casino misleadingly keeps announcing "$160,000" tournament, but the prize pool for the Final tournament cannot be more than $128K.

Really? I'm surprised about that with the ticket. I heard a guy saying he lost his. I would think after the seat is vacant for 20 minutes and they even record the names of the people that win them.

See no purpose for tickets when they have names

CNE, Fallsview and Rama Casinos all use transferable tickets, so when a player loses his CNE card, Rama ticket, or $10,000 WPT Fallsview voucher from 2006-08, he was out of luck.

I heard the transferable card that a player lost was found by a random who sold it to a third person! Today's semi-final was sold out again, so Saturday's Finals should have the maximum prize pool of $128,000 (not the $160K advertised).

There are a LOT of improvements that CNE Casino can make with its horribly-designed SNG and payout structures, but they may not care to change anything if there are enough poker-hungry degenerates in Toronto to make it sell out every year.
