Go on the last Monday of the month when they run their tourneys. 1 table was going last Monday.

There is a book called Crazy Pineapple written by Kim Greenblat (I hope I got the name of the author right). I haven't read it so I can't offer any opinions.

I thought I was kidding when I asked if such a book existed.

There are reviews of Greenblat's book on Amazon.com--including one that says:

I was thinking some more about this. If there's one game I've seen give dealers trouble--even experienced ones--it is O8.

Reading the hands for low when there are several players, some getting quartered (or worse), and some with counterfeited lows, can be a royal pain.

It should be fun if it runs ...

Hi All,

I live in Toronto but have never played any private games. I like to play limit like at the CNE.

Are there low limit (5/10, 10/20) limit private games? If so, could someone PM me as I have many questions how private games work and what to worry about.

Thanks

Hi All,

I just moved to Oakville from Toronto. I'm looking to begin hosting regularly twice a month. First game would be low limit NL and PLO ($.25/50) with a $50 buy-in which at the end of the night with the right players plays like $2/5.

Second game would be low limit limit ($2/4 and maybe $5/10) HORSE. Most of the players play just LHE but trying to get the other games in the mix.

I'd be hosting in my house. I'm a young professional with 2 small children so obviously would like to meet potential players first. I play ultra high stakes poker for a living (lol stock marketments) so this game is not as much about making the maniez as it is about learning new games. Game is fun and obviously no rake. I go all out with custom chips, real poker tables, cards, automatic shuffler, etc, etc. I supply munchiez and some drinks as well.

Please PM me if interested. I play pretty regularly at Casino Niagara and at the Ex this summer, so chances are you have probably seen me. I work downtown in the Financial district if someone wants to meetup for coffee. I'm also open to discussion groups as well.

Thanks!

KT

King, I have no problem with you organizing a no-rake game here in the RC subforum, but please also consider x-posting (copying your post) to the Home Poker forum if you have not already. You might be able to pick up a couple players there as well. I hope it works out for you!

Having played in a couple of the LHE games Thor hosted when he was living in downtown TO I can speak very highly of his whole way of handling things. A very pleasant experience.

Does anyone here play at Fallsview? I'm kind of curious as to how many 2/5 NL games tend to run a day and how often 5/10 NL runs?

What are the waits like?

Hello all,

I am traveling to Toronto for business for three months.

What are my best options to play poker? Are they private games in the city that I can play and if so, is this something a cabby or hotel can halp me with?

Weekends I might either come home or take a trip out to Fallsview. Atleast if I hit Fallsview I will get some culture in by seeing the falls too.

Thanks

I dont have experience crossing the border with a 90 pound dog (or any dog!) but I do know that some landlords discriminate against pet owners. Good luck if you dont already have a place

I pass the border with my 2 large dogs regularly - just make sure you've got your vaccination certificates with you. Also, might want to consider muzzling him before you get to the border if he's a barker.

Im several years removed from playing in Toronto's 'live poker scene', but Ive got a long list of reasons why I wont be back. The games are often run and populated by criminals, which is fitting considering the criminal rakes being charged. Many games have been robbed and some were been busted by police. If you've ever played in a real poker room, most of the Toronto rooms will be decrepit slums by comparison.

In other Toronto news, Im going to make a blog post soon listing some of my favorite spots to help the exiled pokerplayers who dont know the city that well. Hope you guys are enjoying the weather while its above freezing

Fallsview / Niagara isnt 2 hours away, its 75 minutes tops, maybe 90 minutes if u drive like a granny.

Like scotty said, toronto undergroud games are super sketchy. I only went to one back in 2007, but the place I went to was robbed a month after I went, and I havent been to any of them since.

Just check out this site for a casino bus to niagara falls, 30$ the first time, 5$ once you get a PAC card.

I can't speak to how good this is as yet (but I will attend soon), but usually if you check the Meetup in your area, they have scheduled cash and tourney club games. A couple might be sketchy, but they usually don't last as they are 'somewhat regulated'. That is to say, people give their opinions about the atmosphere.

Can you rely 100% on this? Absolutely not. But it does help weed out the good games from the bad.

I have a visitor who asked to go to an underground game. I want to go to a larger one, (not one table in some guys house or anything like that). Other than that it doesn't matter which or where it is. Can you help with contact to any of these clubs?

edit: It would be very much appreciated. Maybe PM me if you prefer! THANKS

Since this thread is active lately.. I had to drive through Mississauga the other day, and I went by this building with a handwritten sign out front that said "private poker club. fun poker every night 7pm", or words to that effect. Anyone with details on this? I have no REAL interest in playing at any live clubs, but I do sometimes feel like playing a fast tourney somewhere.

This place was 1 block south and 1 block west of Mavis + Burnamthorpe. Just curious if anyone knows the deal. You can PM if needed.
