is this the proper place, now, to discuss rolling into the casino with two dozen snickers bars and a hankerin for some side action? :-)

No, but my girlfriend in Providence RI said the walls were shaking and they evacuated her building

Yeah, I'd say I noticed. The building I was in cracked actually. (But I'm in DC.)

First, i could top that with 14 candy bars, or since this is now the New England only Board, Candy bahs. and 14 insulin shots in 2 hours.

But seriously, the next test of eating/drinking contests, without a doubt has to be the quickest drinker of 12 cans of pepsi. It should be a co-ordinated effort at high noon in the poker room on the 14 or whatever day they are having the giveaway.

Each contestant throws in a c note, winner take all.

Followed up by a burping contest no doubt

Anybody know of a good place around Foxwoods/Hartford/Willimantic for things like steak tips, chicken wings, etc (cookout food)? Going to a cookout in Coventry CT right from Foxwoods and want to grab something good.

Ah, something I can actually contribute to the forum (I may still suck at poker, but I am a total chow hound)! You are in luck, because Coventry is close to a couple excellent speciatly meats businesses. I would recommend both:

Bonger Meats
349 Wetherell St Manchester,CT
860-646-2333
www.bognermeats.com
* full-service butcher shop
* easy to find
* few prepared foods - many more grillables

The Country Butcher
1032 Tolland Stage Road, Tolland CT
(860) 875-5352
www.acountrycatering.com
* primarily a catering biz - but they have platters available for walk-away
* somewhat high end-y but outrageously good smoked meats
* harder to find

If you are looking for something already prepared (like a platter of wings) or are willing to spend a few extra $ to impress (like smoked boar sausages) - go TCB. If you want to bring more traditional grillables that are top flight I recommend Bonger. They have a few stores but the Manchester one is probably the easiest/least travel for you. Manchester is a few miles further west than Coventry, but you'd take Rt2 from Foxwoods, which is pretty fast, and then 384E takes you almost into Coventry.

Yeah I'm pretty familiar with the northeast area of outer Hartford, I won't have trouble getting around. I'll check out those websites. Thanks!

Bonger isn't open on Saturdays, so that got ruled out. And unfortunately I didn't make it to TCB by 4, so no-go there either. But I checked out their website and spoke to them on the phone, and that's exactly the type of stuff I was looking for. So I'll definitely visit TCB in the future. Thanks for the help!

So I left Coventry around 10:30am Sunday to drive home (north of Boston). Heavy downpours, but wind wasn't crazy, some 30-40mph gusts occasionally. A lot of tree debris on the backroads getting to I-84, but nothing unmanageable, just leaves and small branches. The highways themselves were wide open and easy going, just kept it around 60 due to the downpours. Tolls were free on the Pike.

Gusts really picked up around 9pm last night. Never lost power though. Had to reschedule a live fantasy football draft because a few people bailed, which turned out to be completely unwarranted. But hindsight is always 20/20 I guess.

I'm praying for the Milford location to be built 1st as opposed to Palmer or Middleborough/Fall River. Palmer and the SE Mass locations are barely closer than FW to where I live, but Milford would cut the driving time down by 45min and 55 miles.... SHIP IIIIIIIIIT!

So does this mean they are going to actually start building, or does it have to get approved anywhere else still?

The Milford location could be dangerous for me. I'm like 15 mins away from it.

It has to get through the Senate and the Governor, which it probably will. Then they have to break ground with regard to construction, etc. I doubt we see anything practical within the next 2 years.
