I've heard HR is very good for action.

How are the other casinos? Are they also pretty soft, or is HR the best by far?

What place usually has the most tables running during weekends/evenings?

Are any places good during off hours, or is it usually only a few tables of old nits at those times?

In the $1/$3 games, on average how many people are short in the 50 bb or under range, and how many are medium - deep stacked?

Also, this question may sound nuts, but I've never played in FL. I know you guys have fairly lax gun laws down there, and about half a decade or maybe even a decade ago now, that law was passed that essentially allows somebody to shoot someone else if they feel they are being threatened, but it seems to have a fairly loose definition of what that means, and so allows for a fairly wide net of 'legal' citizen - citizen shootings.

Are the casinos and racetracks still super tight on what they allow inside, or can people carry concealed weapons in fairly easily?

HR is the best by far. The other rooms have decent action, but mostly nights and weekends. Lucky's (Tampa Greyhound Track) has the only decent PLO action - which is pretty much daily.

Here is a list of the cash games you'll find in Tampa Bay:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...hl=en_US#gid=0

None of the rooms allow weapons afaik, but none have metal detectors. All have security guards, and often armed sheriffs. Crime on-site is pretty non-existent, but there are incidents of players being followed when they leave and robbed on the road.

Walmart in FL sells guns and ammo.

Bump, not much going on in this thread. Anyone have any interesting stories or information about the Tampa rooms?

Bump?

Is there a new thread?

I'm moving to the Tampa area early next year. Are there any rooms that regularly run 2/5 NLH, 5/10 NLH, and/or any limit Hold'em game at 10/20 or higher? How about PLO 1/2 or FLO 5-10 or higher?

I am not at all interested in tournaments except insofar as they add to the cash game player pool as people bust out. I don't care about bad beat jackpots or other promotions except for their ability to attract fish to the cash games.

Information appreciated!

Tampa Bay Downs (The Silks) has 1/1, 1/2, 1/3 and sometimes 2/5. Tampa Greyhound Track has small NL games as well, and often a 1/2/5 PLO game. Silks is on the Bravo app, and TGT is on the Poker Desk app.

random OT observation... looking at the map i would have thought downtown tampa would be a pretty good place to live for a tampa poker reg... but looking at the street view downtown doesnt look all that great. im guessing people live really spread out and there isnt a definitive trendy area to live in?

DT Tampa is up-and-coming, much more nightlife & restaurants than 10 years ago. South Tampa has a lot of stuff going on. They're all no more than a 20-minute drive to the THR.

For more affordable, up-and-coming, you may want to look at Seminole Heights, which is north of downtown. Same 20-minute drive.

love downtown St. Pete but that could be a problematic commute to THR depending on what time he plans on playing.

You're better off in Miami. We don't need any more solid players here!

whats the best low-limit no-limit 1-2, 1-3 game in the area. I regularly visit The rock in tampa, derby lane in st pete, as well as the dog track in tampa. Also what would you consider a respectable buy-in for the games and your bankroll.

Tampa Hard Rock Question.

I am trying to figure out where to go as I start playing more. In the past I played 2-4 times a month...very rec player. I would like to start playing 2-3 times a week. I don't strive to be a pro - just want to be a winning player.

I mostly play in Daytona but I get some sessions in THR as well. Some regs there said the games are softer and better (1/2 NL) at night. When I have been there in the past it has been mostly weekday, day sessions.

Are the games markedly softer Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights compared to weekday days?

It's 1/2, so if you're running into a tough table during the week, just table change.

The games on the weekends are better as you'd expect.

Not really worried about tough tables - I can run away with the best of them...lol.

I was more asking about the level of play. It seems logical that the weekend or nighttime players might be softer on average than the daytime grinders.
