Correct, I should have been a bit more clear. But I think an argument can be made that there isnt parx traffic here (which seems to be the philly area room that runs the mixes more consistantly aside from the B imo) & mix games @ SH would be much more easily introduced/sustainable if there were.

All that said I am still interested, just need details and have it be on a night I am free.
Totally understand.... my thought is, this kill/half kill is offputting/intimidating to those that are mew ro the game regardless their ability to play at higher stakes. Just the concept to newbs is like..."wtf? I thought this blinds stay the same...", or, in a case of forced strats or 3blind games (all gambly) " I thought there was only....." blah blah , etc etc.

I think the play would be to have what every one can think of as a "feeder game" for nooobs. Low stakes, no/half rake with no inside poker variatikns other than what the game that everyone is familiar with wrt noobs.

Not to say you cant have the game your shooting for regularly, I just think youll be chip transfering amongst regs and never going to be able to get a "soft table" as a result. Noobs will get fleeced and not come back.

Gotta have a rookie league table along side the big league table......Ill play the rookie table for as long as it takes to establish the flow of noobs up to the stakes you sharks wanna play ...K?

Im at work ..all that proly made no sense or im missing alot...ill try to clarify or smth later

We have enough interest to get a game started - I'm reaching out to a guy that knows a lot of mixed game players (outside of 2+2) to get additional bodies.

I play in the Parx mixed game on Tuesday, so I'll ask them as well, though it's probably a little low limit for most of them.

Weekends are bad at Sugarhouse because of the HH jackpot, as ElmoAC said, so it will have to be a weekday. Monday is out (PLO night at SH), and Tuesday would be tough since so much poker traffic is at Sugarhouse, so Wednesday or Thursday is our best bet.

Wednesdays is $2 deep fried cheeseburgers @ The French Quarter Bistro, & there is also the weekly church dinner.

If everyone agreeable to no kills, Im totally in for a 4/8 ( pref HOSE but HORSE is wotev) next Wed w two racks of low society (1PM?).

OK, is this game going or no?

I see chatter of Parx regs playing?

Seems odd we wouldnt be able to get SH regs interested.

Hey Glantz!! How about you, The Champ, and maybe Lemke & Dags propping a blue chip mix game til' we get rolling??

Guest appearances every now & then after would likely ensure that the game kept going....

Just spitballing

Why is it always a negotiation when it comes to playing mix. I'd be interested in a horse or 8game mix. Like I said before send me a message on twitter at least 1 hour in advance and I'm in

I'll be there playing some NL (plan to be there around 5 or 6pm), will help to get the mix game started today. I'm down for 8 game, or HORSE (and I guess HOSE if people won't want to play razz).

Is the 1/3 pool dead cause buncha reg sharks preying?

Seems that way...and very obvious.

I would have to imagine this environment is somewhat uncomfortable/intimidating for noobs/non-locals/casuals

...and especially to the 1/2 cats/regs that trade $2/hr for peace-of-mind that they aint the target of the day

Seriously fellas, lighten up.

I love you D!!!

I'm a rec who plays here when traveling to philky and think the 1/3 game is great. I'll usually play the 2/5 but think the 1/3 may be a better game.

This..only thing I hate about SH...total ****ing bulll****. Literally spent the better part of an entire evening the other night with 2 loose aggros to my right straddling and wiping out any possibility of having position and one aggo to my left threatening to raise or 3-bet. Shut me down to the point where I needed to just catch a strong preflop hand to win, and that wasn't going to work both because my card dead meter was set to "epic," and the fact that I was driven so far into my hole by the straddles and aggression that even the most unaware player could see I was looking to win a nitting competition so it wasn't as though I was going to get paid off. Kept my head above water with some tight image based aggression but I was still down 1/3 of the max buy-in by the time I had the sense to switch tables.

I suppose I shoulda just switched sooner...I'm stubborn that way. Good news was that I ended the session up by one big blind. Woo hoo! Good thing SH has free parking! Less overhead!

I was a parx reg for about 2yrs and there were occasional utg straddles. With the SH straddle competent players will be straddling in position thus creating bigger pots in position. Or early position players will straddle to prevent the button from straddling thus still creating bigger pots in position.
Or we'll just effectively shrink all of our respective chip stacks but who wanted deep stack play or the ability to play as though I'm in late position when I'm actually in late position amirite?

Is that still the case? I've only been there a couple times so far so that's hardly a strong sample size but from the few tables I sat at on Saturday evening vs weekday evenings I feel as though the 1/2 games were fishier during the week and donky-er on Saturday. Not that the latter of the two is necessarily less profitable, but low variance is a friend of mine.

edit: apologize for the long run of posts...just got here and went speed reading through the thread...

High hand promotion was listed on Bravo as 6pm-1am tonight. Got there around 6, played until about 930 only to hear over the blower "We apologize for mistakenly listing the promotion tonight until 1am. It will end at 11pm." Bang up job guys

were they still taking the rake for it? is that how it works, im not familiar with high hand shenanigans.

which reminds me the only time i played here - i 'won' the high hand without knowing there was a promo. Then the floor comes over and tells me 'we looked at the camera and someone else won at the very last second'. i watch him after he leaves and he never goes to anyone to tell them they won for at least 10 mins. didnt think anything of it.

But now if they say (on bravo) that its going on like above, or just make up that someone else won - cant the floor just pocket the $?

does sugarhouse post winners or do anything to show real people are actually winning this?
