posting people's losses, especially if they are good for the game, is bad for the game

I think it's safe to assume Westbrook isn't following this thread.

Hi guys - Pats fan here. I come in peace.

I am Considering my first visit to Sugarhouse tonight... is there decent 1/2 and 2/5 NL action on a Monday night? Thanks

I think Monday's is 2/5/10 (500-3k) night, so 2/5 probably won't run or will get like 1 table

Bravo shows 7 games right now, (4) 1/2, (2) 1/3, and (1) 2/5/10. Wouldn't surprise me to see 3-5 more games going by 8

I was there on Friday, felt like it was less busy than usually, possibly because of Borgata open

What stake and frequency do people need to play at to get a box in the cage? I'm definitely not a baller and usually play 1/3 or 2/5, but I'm a bit tired of walking around with 2-3k every time I come in. My guess is that I have to wait 'til I move up to the bigger games, but can anyone confirm?

Sugarhouse should take the promotional dollars at $10 and $30 and do crazy promotions, hourly "Hot Tables", where everyone at the table gets $50-100, Hourly "Hot Seats" where 5 players an hour get $100, Free Ipads once an hour etc. They need nonstop hourly promos 4pm to 2am every day.

If you look at the new February promo calendar youll see theres high hand everyday for 10 hours a day.

Technically, they do run the instant high hands 24/7/365, but they vary from $50-$599 based on when they were last hit. They're also double payout from 2am-3pm everyday I believe

Hey guys, I usually play at Sands and in AC at Borgota can someone compare the 1/2 and 1/3 nl games at Sugarhouse to those games? I am thinking about making a trip down there if it's worth it compared to AC, I saw someone say that the rake was higher at Sugarhouse than Borgota. Let me know and thanks in advance.

Hi all,

Can anyone who has played at both Sands-Bethlehem and Sugarhouse, enough where you feel confident in your opinion (at least relatively), give me a comparison between the two --- mainly with a look towards profitability in the cash games = 1/2NL, 2/5NL, 1/3NL etc

Thanks, cheers

I'm in the area for a week and decided to put in some evenings at Sugarhouse. Here are my observations, particularly as things compare to Borgata for a semi-regular player:

- Very nice room, convenient parking. Tables are tightly squeezed.

- I like to play late into the evenings. Sugarhouse games die out quicker. On the other hand, there is at least some high hand promo during the nights. I hate paying high hand rake when I don't even have a shot at getting a high hand.

- Which leads me to rake. 5+2 is quite a lot to skim from 1/2NL. In a loose game, basically one player's chip stack disappears from the table every hour or so. Ouch.

- 1/2 games are roughly as soft as Borgata: all over the place depending on who sits down at any given moment. Aside from the Borgata Retiree Crew nitting it up I wouldn't say there is much of a difference. There is an observable jump in player pool that goes to 1/3, more reg infested.

- One doesn't have to post when one sits. Nice. Mississippi straddle seems to be good for the game but personally I'm not too sure how to play this optimally.

- Sugarhouse feels a little more service oriented. You want 200 in red and 100 in green? Borgata cage will tell you to pound sand. Food at tables is OK. Responsive floor. Chip runners.

- It doesn't take much to get comped hotel at Borgata. Discounted buffet and lounge are a nice touch and there are plenty of places to spend comps. It's really nice that I can use some of these MGM/Borgata benefits when I go to Vegas.
Sugarhouse? It seems that comp redemption is not nearly as good. What does it take to earn that Norwegian Cruise and do they stick you with a dozen booking fees and resort fees to get that cruise? I could not find any details on Sugarhouse website. If comps expire after 30 days of inactivity that outright sucks.

- Sugarhouse doesn't seem to be managed as solidly. Website still advertises promos from 3 weeks ago. They still have promotional banners around the room for an event that ended a few days ago. They seem to have too many small promos clogging up the system and rules that are hard to track down. It would be better if they had fewer but bigger promos. BTW, are there any good new customer promos?

Last but not least... Much better looking waitresses than Borgata.

Pretty spot-on observations imo.

Minor nit: I'm ok with the Borgata cage being less "service oriented". And if Sugarhouse should someday/somehow be graced with super long lines at the cage and a 50+ table room like the Borg, I'd want those long cage lines to be subject to less "service oriented" procedures (e.g. not allowing stacks where the number of chips isn't a multiple of 20).

Fwiw, attractiveness of waitresses at SH has risen a lot in the past ~18 months.

Yes... Most of the waitresses are very hot! Wish i could get them all together for a slumber party while my wife is out of town. I did not play here for a bit and now its crazy how hot they all are since returning....... Higher rake and drop is most def worth it IMO. I have played everywhere on the east coast and SH is the best right now IMO unless you're looking to play higher limits. 1-3 is where its at, more profitable for me then some 2-5 games. 2-5 also can be good and the regs at 2-5 there are not as solid as parx or borg. 1-2 is very soft also but the rake really kills the game and with 1-3 being soo good I wouldn't bother playing 1-2 if you can afford it.

Mini TR

Had 30 min to kill while in the Sugarhouse area so stopped in. Got lucky and parked right by entrance near room. No smoke or casino games to walk through-nice.

Nice mood lighting- I can see some think it’s dark but the actual lighting while at the tables is fine.

Played a total of about 6 hands of 1-2 (my fault long story) but players seem extra fishy. As first to act I popped a straddled to 15 with JJ, came around to B.B. who raised to 40. I thought good for you buddy if you got me beat and shoved the rest of my 140 buyin. He insta called so I’m expecting to be toast. Board runs out 10 hi. I flip over jacks. He flips 88. I play through the button and rack up to go pick the wife up.

Will have to go back for more. Don’t love NL but this looked fun.

Haha possible sample size problem here but you are not incorrect. I play here often and its a very well run room with good action

I was on a pretty good table at Parx that day as well, softer than usual. Lots of action. Sample size was very small. I guess I was reading reactions and no one thought it unusual to call $100 re-raise with 88.

Ive played in 33 poker rooms in the past 2 years and this place, by far, has the worst felt Ive ever seen. Honestly I cant remember any poker room having felt that isnt a solid color. Some have a logo on it but the felt is almost always a solid color. The felt here is a light grey with some stupid busy pattern that makes it hard to see the cards and even the chips. I literally got a headache from eye strain trying to see the cards on the table. Never again.

PS...the lighting also sucks.
