Noticed it didn't have its own thread in the poker venues/brick and mortar thread.

This place is by far my new favorite place to play poker in the area.
A lot of action, that starts as early as 10am.
Consistent $1-$2 & $1-$3 NL with 200 BB buy in as well as table stakes when the game gets deep.
$2-$5 usually runs daily from late afternoon to evenings and occasionally into the am hours.
Never play LHE or OH8, but I believe they spread those daily as well.
Don't really play tournaments either but have heard good things about the deep stack event on the last Sunday of every month.

Great staff! Really nice and friendly. You never want for anything. Constant food and beverage service and even fresh complimentary cookies are given out regularly.
The food is without a doubt the best in town for a poker room. A menu filled with variety and everything I've tried is delicious. They even have vegetarian options.

Also, love the tables with USB ports for your smart devices and the chairs are really comfortable. Important when you sit there 8-10 hours.

My only complaint would be, is they have yet to implement the bravo system into the poker tables. But I'm sure they will eventually, and that's a very minor critique in contrast to all the positives this place has going for it.

In short, Stones is The Nuts!

Played here for the first time on a recent Monday night. It was kind of empty, with only 5 tables going, and down to 2-3 tables as the night went on. They were giving away money for "splash pots" which was a nice touch. They had some good beers on draft and the food menu is great, with food service going all night. Played 1/2 NL, and the game was pretty soft/passive. Game had a friendly vibe, with more attention being paid to the NFL game on TV than the poker at times. Lot of guys calling raises preflop and all the way to the river with marginal hands. It's right off the interstate. I will definitely go back if I'm ever in Sacramento again.

I just moved back to the area (from Australia and South Bay before that) and stopped in with the wife for a quick look on Thursday around 4pm. First impression was really good and was really surprized with the NL games offered. They had 2 of each going with immediate seating( none of the games looked short). I don't remember the minimum buyins but I think they were around 20bbs. 1/2 max $200, 1/3 max $500 and 2/5 max $1000. I like the deeper buy ins offered and have to get down there without the wife soon. The staff was really friendly, not sure about the rake, but the bar had good happy hour specials on drinks and food. It was tough to tell how tough the games were as I only looked for a couple minutes to watch but I'll give it a shot as soon as I can. Looked like a poker room that was created for the players which was nice.

I would agree. Stones is refreshing and adds alot of value (and options) to the other rooms in the area. Also, they support online in CA (+EV).

Does anyone here play in the Saturday $130 buy in tournaments?

If so can you give some details? I.e. How many players usually (roughly); payouts; how many cash; structure.

Looks like a decent deal to me and the structure seems better than most low stakes tournaments.

My local casino tournament is just a joke. Average stacks of like 15bb by the time we're half way through the player pool.

Any insights here? Thanks.

Played a $55 ($43 to prize pool) NLH 10 a.m. tournament at Stones on Friday. Great room, lots of tables, plenty of space between tables to move around and auto-shufflers make it a great playing experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the room has very good acoustics and it is easy to hear what's going on. The other half of the venue has traditional casino table games but is separated by a glass wall. It is also non-smoking.

I really enjoyed the structure for a low buy-in tournament. $8000 starting chips and 20 minute levels. With the auto shufflers, it doesn't feel terribly fast. 60 entrants for a mid morning weekday seemed a pretty significant size. I had played comparable tournaments at Red Hawk where they struggled to get 30.

Perhaps a small quibble, they paid out the top 9 for 60 entrants which seems like a lot. It kind of diluted the prize pool but I think most people enjoyed it because it gave them a chance to win something which, for us low-limit donkeys, is nice.

Thinking about stopping in the weekend of October 7th. Any tips for a first timer at Stones? Parking, hotels, rake, food/drink? Thanks in advance.

Ample onsite parking. Its in a large strip-mall site. Just heed the parking signs, especially during the day. They also have a parking structure adjacent, to the right.

Food onsite is worthy. Sammy's. Very well supported by players and regs.

Lodging. tons nearby, but you will need to decide your level of comfort and price. Obviously the travel sites will give you a ton of choices. And, I live here, so I don't use any of the local hotels. However- Thunder Valley Casino is just up the road, is full service Resort, great dining, pool, rooms. And Casino. Less than a 15 minute commute. Other than that, Trivago has been my friend now for quite sometime.

Thanks for the info. The parking was my concern because it looked like a weird layout on google maps.

I played there a couple nights around thanksgiving 2018 and really liked the place. I'm happy to see there is a good card room with nice players and staff in my new hometown.

I played the Saturday tourney once. The structure seemed pretty deep, and I believe the prize pool got above 10k with the rebuys.

I believe it had 80 or so runners.

I probably shouldn't bump this but that phrase made me smile.

Been wondering the same since they haven't run anything since the pre-covid/postle days, so its not looking likely in the near future.

Do you think them getting (perhaps wrongly/unfairly) sued has anything to do with it?
