Looks like theres no thread in here for this cas so thought I'd make one.

Anyone on here flying over for the WPT in early Oct?

The 5/5 and 5/10 cash games here are normally pretty good when running - especially on weekends/holidays.

No clue where the hell they are going to be hosting the tourneys though - convention centre maybe? Definitely no space on the main floor

I'm at the gold coast for holidays with the family next 2 weeks will probably head to the Star Casino for some 2/4 NLH. I would imagine the games would be good this time of year. How many tables do they usually get running? Last time I was at the Star there were only 2 tables going a 2/4 and a 5/10.

Merry xmas everyone at 2p2

I've been researching for a trip to Australia but I'm quite concerned about the fires and smoke right now. Hope you have fun, would love to hear what you find there in terms of games as I'm expected to get there in February or March.

I was there during WPT Gold Coast and there was about 3-5 Cash games of 2/4 running at all times and 1-2 of 5/10 (usually in the evenings or weekends).

During this time of year it will be busier than normal but probably not quite as busy as during WPT. There will definitely be 2/4 running almost 24/7. I imagine 5/10 will get up in peak times.

It might be worth messaging them on facebook or giving them a call and asking. It's a great casino though and the poker section is very big now. its the same size/bigger than the Star Sydney's poker area but its in an open part of the casino which is nicer.

Had a bit of free time yesterday so headed over to the casino about a 20 min bus ride. I was very impressed with the setup they have now alot more tables. there was a $550 donkument going roughly 60 players. There were a few cash game tables 1/3 ,2/5 and 5/10 nlh and plo was running.

I put my name on the waiting list was about 14th, only took about half an hour to get on as they opened another 1/3 nlh table as the tournament field thinned. Was pleasantly surprised at the game as I have a mainly online backround these games were so loose passive with a couple of tags and one OMC. Was able two double up with a flopped set of Tens against 2 pair easy game. Unfortunately was only able to play a short session but was happy to walk out with $580.

Well done Star casino gold coast 100% improvement on what i saw last year. Should be able to get a couple of good sessions in there over the next week

Although there are alot of fires the main Gold Coast area is ok. Although the smoke has been a problem where I live in Brisbane we have had alot of rain the last week so everything has improved alot.

The games at 1/3 were quite soft not sure about the higher limits though if thats what your looking at.

Fires are zero risk unless you plan to head out into bush. The Gold Coast is a built up area. It's like the Cali wild fires, LA isn't going to burn down because of them.

Smoke wise I'd delay until they calm down going if you have asthma. Otherwise should be OK.

How does poker at The Star in Sydney compare to Crown in Melbourne?

I hear poker is back at The Star for the last few weeks - anyone know what the waiting lists are like for the bigger NLHE games? (2/5+)

Can anyone provide info on PLO at the Star Gold Coast? What stakes run regularly and at what times?

8 hours per day max. 48 hours per week max. Break, and you are banned for a week. No more parking stamp - it's all on Star Card. Compulsory 15 minute break after 3 hours (at the discretion of the Poker Manager) being considered. This seems counter productive on a 8 seat table. Even weirder if the original 8 players from a 10am start are still there at 1pm and all get tapped for a 15 minute break.

GC being forced to adopt the same rulebook from big brother Star Sydney, but these two siblings have completely different characteristics and player populations.

Poorly managed.

Hello,

Im a 31-year-old from the UK

Currently looking at a potential move over to Australia on a WHV with the Mrs and she has landed a job on the Gold Coast.

The casino at GC states cash games run from 10 am every day but I'm not sure how to check this (Bravo App) doesn't show.

If anyone could provide me with any info on what games run during the day frequently it would be very appreciated.

Peace,

Dan.

This might be of some help.

Bigger cash games might get up before/during the WSOP Circuit series:

Awesome thank you. The main takeaways are the games do seem to run during the day but the rake is very high at 2/3 and not feasible.

Looks like a savage spot tho!!
