Waited 2 hours 20 mins for a 2/5/10 seat today - got there just after the table got up and was # 2 on the list. Infuriating

How to beat the take then? Best bet is to double up early and call it a day. No way one can grind here.

I would also advise doubling up early. Yes.

Your irony detector is off

Rake is $25 pp on the hour and then after half an hour some weird system where they rake the next three big pots at like $20 or $25.

Max rake is $300 or $325 for the table, so basically the same as 2/3 but 10x the stakes

Thanks. I generally take the advices given here at face value

Was shaved head guy vaguely mediterrean looking?
yeah fully agree with this, i'm not the most social person at the table but the environment can be a toxic to fishy players, also to the people acting like sub par human beings at the table I find it a little funny that your all complaining that the play is so bad you can't exploit it to make a profit ? (this isn't directed at anyone here just a little rant)

The stupidity of some of the regs at this place blows my mind, just this week I saw a reg telling a fish how bad he was and how he shouldn't be getting to showdown with weak pairs when he had a black card on the table and was stacking off $500 every couple of orbits.

Is the 2/5/10 still the biggest NLHE game at The Star that gets up regularly?
On a Friday or Saturday night would you get anything bigger like a 10/20 or 25/50 NLHE or not really?

I wanted to come visit during the tourney series in December but ended up spending Christmas in the Gold Coast instead lol so its about time I make it to Sydney

Generally nothing bigger than 2/5/10

Occasionally there has been a 25/50 or 50/100. Lineup looked like only Asians. It's played in the open poker area so you could probably get in, but not sure if they want to let someone into their game. It doesn't appear to depend on weekend or anything, just when certain peeps are in town

10/20 NLH was randomly up last night which is a rarity. 200/400/800 PLO was also being played in a closed off area too.

Does anyone know how late the 2/3 and 2/5 NLH games in The Star usually run till. I want to head over but sometimes I don't finish work till as late as 4.30am. Wonder if its worth my time or if the games would be dying of around then

Always a few 2/3 games going then. 2/5/10 would depend

Never been there at 4:30am but judging by 6am, it’s a good time to go and play 2/3. Lots of people have been playing all night and are tired and/or drunk.

IME (Disclaimer: have not been in the city since October) the 2/5/10 usually dissolves anywhere between 2am and 7am in the morning, so you can pretty much flip a coin at 4:30.

Haven't played here in years, looking at the Star website and have a few questions.

Are the cash game tables 9 or 10 handed?

Why is there not a regular 5/10 NL game paying (which would be time charged) instead of a 2/5/10 NL game which is raked? Does the Star not allow a non straddle game to run otherwise I can't work this out.

9 handed thank God they switched it from 10 handed.

No idea why Star does it like that. Probably because they prefer a raked game.
