Thank you WereBeer. Yeah it's always tempting to play other games =)

You got me denks~ That's exactly what I was asking for. I guess they have this bankroll function, yes?

Hey there. Anyone know what winrates are standard for crushers at 2/3 and 2/5 at the star? I've logged about 400 hours now and I'm trying to gauge where I stand compared to some of the better players at these stakes.

2/3 who knows, who cares... There aren't any crushers there and the ones who do crush quickly move up. For 2/5 you should be aiming for $50+ PH the best reg at 2/5 (Won't say name but he is very flamboyant guy) averages close to $80ph with well over 2000 hours logged. Anything above 10BB Per hr is something to be proud of.

hmm, 'flamboyant' is media code word for gay! not sure if that's what you mean?

I have a good sense of who I think the best 5/5 and 2/5 players are, but interested in a few more clues on who you're referring to. PM if necessary?

I can't think of any good regs at 2/5. Even the pros putting in 80 hours a week have some shocking leaks.
E.g tag pro limp calls QTo UTG. Pro lag 3 bets with KJ after a rock opens in EP.

Told Star i am coming to sydney for a weekend to gamble, was given complimentary nights and a Pearl card? was wondering if that is equivalent to the Teak room in Melbourne or is it the highest available room in Star. Will be playing poker primarily, but just wanting to know..

And are there PLO games that run all night on Thurs, Fri, Sat nights?

Publicising their leaks may not be the best idea, just saying'...

Hey I'm mostly an online player, but I've played quite a few 'pub poker' tournaments in Sydney as well, and I was just wondering if anyone could help answer a few questions.

What are the rules regarding leaving the table while playing? How long can you leave for/can you opt out of posting blinds while you're gone? (and just post/wait till the BB when you get back). Also if you can't leave for very long, are you allowed to eat at the table?

Is it possible to bring a friend and ask to be seated at the same table?

And finally, are the games soft enough that a player who can beat 2NL 6 max for 15bb/100 over 30k hands and 5NL for 7bb/100 on stars can also overcome the massive rake?

For the cash games, you have 20 minutes away from the table IIRC. Any longer, a supervisor is supposed to put your stack into the dealer's till and write up a note of what they owe you. It will usually be longer than that before they do it though.

If you get stacked, tell the dealer you are coming back if you intend to buy more chips and return or they will assume you have left the building.

Missing blinds: the dealer will put a button in front of your seat to indicate your missed blinds, you post upon return. The blinds are not taken from your stack while you are away (unlike tournaments) but the hourly time charge is.

You can eat at the table. They have little movable tables to put drinks and food on next to you.

Game softness: I don't have sufficient sample size to answer this question. You will notice the game is very passive preflop in comparison to online but people tend to stack off lighter postflop. Overall I think the play is probably worse than 2NL online but not insanely so.

Cash games is 10 mins away before they lock you up, not 20. How rigorously they enforce this depends on the nittiness of the dealer and others at the table. A laid back table might barely notice you gone after 30 mins, if you have some rule nit dealer or old man coffee who considers playing 9 handed instead of 10 as a ridiculously aggressive short handed game then they will try to rack you up after 5.

Games play very different to online so how you adapt is going to be the telling factor.

My bad. Never seen them lock in 10 minutes though.

I have led the table chant of 'give him another few minutes dealer, he only just left' when the ATM bailed to get some food.

Generally they will only lock you after you've missed a blind and then they come round to your bb again.

ATMs at Star aren't all that close by - or at least they never used to be. Never seen somebody's seat given away under ~15 mins

Thanks for the help guys.

Only other thing I was wondering was what the rules are with asking to be seated at the same table as a friend. In pub poker the rule is generally that if there's no more than 2 of you it's fine. Is it the same at the star?

Melbourne rec coming up to Sydney for business trip here.

Just wondering;
What NLHE games are run 24/7 or close to that? And what's the rake like?
I don't PLO (NotBigA)

Anyone who has also played in Melbourne:
"Are the games similar? Level of softness comparatively?"

2-3 runs basically 24/7
2-5 can sometimes through till the next day but it is rare. tables will break probably from 4-6 am
5-5 more likely to break between 2-5am depending on the game.

similar level of play to crown

5-10 runs occasionally rather than regularly. you can push for 5-10 to get up and it is likely that the floor will try and open it.

Isn't it supposed to be moving back? I.e. what is happening at the moment is due to renovations? Or has that changed in the past few weeks?
