Table talk at Lumiere last night was that Harrah's is running satellites to the circuit events. Anyone know if that's true and when they are?

Are they still running alot 1/2nl and 3/6 Limit at harrahs, or is it only bigger games during the circuit?

Could someone please help me out? Its a far drive to find out myself and I always get clueless people answering my calls.

Yes it is true. All circuit events always run sit-n-gos... winner take all ..... all day long. They are $65,125, and 500 in STL this year. Every venue does it different.

Anybody play the noon $560 event Saturday? I'm like 90% sure I saw Nelly playing at one of the other tables but he had a hoody and sunglasses on so I'm not positive. He's from St. Louis so it would make sense. Can someone confirm?

Yes, that was him. Nelly plays a lot at Harrah's. He actually was the bubble for that tournament you saw him in!

I played in the noon event on Saturday with a $560 buy in NL HE and got there minutes before it started - registering was not a problem for me.

Nelly out on the bubble on a brutal beat. KdQd vs. KHJh, king on flop w/1 heart. They're all in. Runner hearts kill him.

He was at the table next to mine for most of the day.

Thursday night they had like 8 1/2 tables and Saturday night they had like 10-12 1/2 tables and I'd have to guess 5-7 2/5 tables. Had some success with the limited time I had last weekend. I will be coming in this weekend to put in some more hours. Pretty profitable in my opinion. Saw several people that just didn't have a clue.

2/5 NLH was a good game last night at Harrah's. One straight up donkey (whole table saw it)--who was there to GAMBLE. So he was great to have. And the other players led to a generally fun poker game. Some interesting plays; players ranged from tight with exploitable but rare leaks to interestingly creative. A good game all around--different styles with one donkey to donate cash.

Its the first time I've been to Harrah's that I didn't also need a pillow for naps.

I'll be in St. Louis on Thursday and Friday, staying downtown near the Lumiere. I'm either going to go over there on Thursday night or Friday afternoon; anyone familiar with the poker room have any suggestions as to which time the games would be better? I'm also toying with the idea of just playing the $55 tournament at noon, but I'm not certain I'd be able to make it on time. For anyone who's played it, how long does it typically last?

I'd also love to hear about the limit game. I'm undecided about whether I'll play FL or NL, and I may very well try both out. I've played some live NL, but never FL. What kind of player plays FL at the Lumiere, competent types or tons of weak/loose players?

Anyway, perspectives from locals on the Lumiere would be appreciated. Thanks.

3/6 is only available limit game. I would describe it as a typical 3/6 game. Several tight passive regulars, several loose passive casual players, an occasional maniac, maybe an occasional TAG.

Make sure you get there in time for aces cracked, which you definitely should be playing on a limit table for. IIRC, they pay $100 to the first five hands of pocket aces to lose at showdown, starting at 4 PM (or maybe it's 4:30). That draws a bunch of people fresh from working downtown and makes for interesting play as people check their rockets down to the river...

Played an orbit of 1-3 NL then chose to play 3/6 limit so I could drink without running the risk of playing absolutely ******ed. I was card dead the entire three hours I was there; didn't win a single pot, nor did I have the cards to. I had maybe about five drawing hands that didn't hit.

The poker room was OK. It was very loud, being located right next to one of the huge slot machine banks, but I think that's par for the course at most midwest casinos. There were problems with the auto-shuffler, which slowed play down a few times. The table was amusing; there were a couple of people that loved to whine about hands, which was good for a chuckle. Got sucked out on one pot I ought to have won when some guy playing a pair of fours spiked trips on the rivers, beating my kings. Sigh.

I got there around 7:30, and there were 2 aces cracked left. One happened at my table (I'm not sure I've ever seen somebody happier that his aces got rivered) and a few minutes later, the fifth and final one occurred at a NL table.

Not all was lost, though, because I was up $20 from playing craps. Small victories are nice.

Played some cash at Harrah's yesterday night and it was HU in the WSOPC ME. And they didn't make a deal. There was a 60k difference between 1st and 2nd. Pretty interesting.

I'm new at this. How long in advance would I need to sign up for the 7:00 tournament at Harrah's tonight? I've never played a tournament in a casino, so thanks in advance for the help.

When I play at Harrah's after work, I usually get there about 5:30 and have never had a problem registering. Good luck tonight!

Thanks for the help Tom...

I had my first ever weekend of live casino poker this past weekend at Harrah's, and it was a lot of fun.

That Friday night tournament ended up having only 20 entrants. I luckboxed my way to the bubble (mostly because I picked up aces twice) but got knocked out (5th) by this guy: http://www.wsop.com/players/playerpr...playerID=79478. He's a nice guy and a very good player.

I'm not sure what first place paid, but it was a fun tourney and I thought it had a pretty good structure. I don't know how standard this is, but everyone agreed to pay the bubble $25 each, so I still walked away with $100 (only lost $25).

As for the 1/2 no limit games, Friday night and Saturday afternoon were tough, but Saturday night was quite juicy.

Well the lights are finally on at River City. It is like night and day (A Pun intended). River City is starting to be the mut room of poker in the area. They are playing 3/6 and 4/8 Limit, 1/3 NL, Omaha, Omaha H/L 8 or better and 7 Card Stud. Friday and Saturday is when you will find the variety. Sun-Thurs is usually 3/6 Limit and 1/3 NL with tournaments being held everyday at 3pm (sun-thur) and 12pm (fri-sat)

Heres a couple questions for St Louis regulars;

1. Did Harrahs keep the rake at $5 after the circuit event ended? Are they dropping 4 + 1 or 5 + 1 now?

2. Is Ameristar really dropping $2 for Jackpot drop? What is their rake drop?

I don't know, don't go to Harrah's anymore so I can just pass the blinds back and forth with the nits at 1/2 NL.
