An outlier? Lumiere is constantly being reported for assaults, muggings, cars being broken into. Need I remind you about the guy that tried to run over a state trooper in the parking garage, so the trooper shot him. Or the guy that tried to rob a woman, who then jumped from the 2nd floor of the parking garage? What about guests being followed back to their room and getting rolled in the process? My advice is to not set foot in their parking garage and park in their big lot.

Never had a problem at Lumiere, but it is ridiculous to describe the area as safe. Bottom line is you are in downtown St. Louis and most of the area surrounding it is pretty sketchy. Be aware of your surroundings at all times, don't flash cash, and park in well lit high traffic areas (i.e. by the elevator if you are in the parking garage) and you should be fine.

Anyone ever play the $300 Mega Stack at Hollywood? How many runners they usually have for it? Seems like a pretty good structure unless I'm missing something reading it on their website. Thanks for the info.

Usually between 60-100 depending on what else is going on that weekend. It's a great tourney for sure.

I'm not, but I will be there this weekend for some cash games / tourneys. What did you need to do to qualify for it?

Will be in town this weekend, which room is the best action for 2/5 NL?

Ameristar / Lumiere / River City? FWIW I'm staying closest to Lumiere.

Thanks

Thanks, will I be fine sticking to Lumiere then? Easiest convenience wise. How is the competition at 2/5 or above? Any tips would be much appreciated, thanks.

2-5 Runs sporadically at Lumiere and Hollywood depending on who shows up to play. It runs consistently at Ameristar Fridays and Saturdays at 6p and the players are trying to organize a game on wednesdays.

Thanks, I'll be mainly playing Friday late night. Appreciate it.

Check Bravo Poker Live for what tables are playing and how many waiting. 2-5 often runs at Lumiere on Fri/Sat. Occasionally at Ameristar, rarely at Hollywood (but there is one there now as I speak on a Friday night. Both Ameristar & Lumiere run 1-2-5 PLO & Big O, which poaches players from 2-5 NL games more than 1-3, I think.

Just gotta check ahead of time on BPL to see what the tables look like or if you like to play tournaments, they list all of those on BPL also.

Does anyone use the valet at Lumiere? Where is it, how much is it, how long do you have to wait?

Thanks

Played yesterday at Lumiere for about 4 hours. Garage parking nice and easy, and casino was pretty nice.
More games running at Ameristar according to Bravo but Lumiere much closer to my hotel.

Played 1/3 as no 2/5 was running (only 2/5 PLO now according to the staff) and some of the players were surprisingly more skilled than I would have thought. Ran into some coolers but managed to book a 50bb win all said and done. Dealers were very good and service was top notch. Def recommend a stop if you're in the area.

They also had a $65 tourney for those interested in a quick low stakes event.

Played some $1/2 at Hollywood on Saturday night. One of the dealers confirmed that a new Poker room is being constructed in the near future. It will be on the other side of the casino from where it is now.

You can get your valet ticket signed in the poker room so it's free. It's in front of the casino and they are pretty quick depending on how busy it is.

I am coming in to play on 7/5 which is a Tuesday and the day after a holiday. Any chance that there will be any midstakes games going that evening (like 5/10+ nl or 20/40+ lhe)?

Appreciate any insights from the regs.

I don't know about 5/10 nl, but a 20/40 lhe with a half kill game plays every Wednesday/Friday at Ameristar. I haven't been around in awhile so I'm not exactly sure of the start time, but I think right after lunch perhaps? That's the only 20/40 lhe game I know of in town.

^ This. I think Lumiere runs a 5/10 NL game but not idea when the start time is.

Thanks for the heads up. So considering that I am going to be in town on a Tuesday I may be SOL.

If any of the local regs want to start a higher limit NL or LHE game certainly PM me and we can try to arrange something.

5/10 NL is at Ameristar, start time is 1 p.m. I think, maybe 2. 20/40 w/ half kill is Wed/Fri starts at Noon.

Checked out ameristars new poker room and while it's nice it does have a few flaws. It's smaller than the last room having about 12 tables I'm guessing (not a flaw. And this is why they relocated anyway--size reduction). However, there appears to be no drink station within relative proximity to the room. This is especially strange given the revamped deli next door. Also there really is no place to wait for your name to be called outside the room. You pretty much have to mill about a small area. That's just my take on things. Like I said it does look nice

You forgot to mention several things:
1)they aren't giving out the hotdog comp after a couple hours anymore which is meh
2) New tables, chairs, USB ports for every seat that actually work, free wifi
3)cage is in the poker room and stays open the entire time
4) nearest beverage station is a bit of a walk
5) tables are close together so if you're in the back and it's busy, you'll have to squeeze between a couple players
6) tables are wider so for bigger dealers, it's a struggle for him or her to get any chips from the 3 and 8 seats.
7) offering new promotions (see bravo)
8) cocktail waitresses were struggling immensely just to get players their drinks and were just shouting "who had a bud light?!??" at one point on Friday.
9) there are more than 12 tables (they had 15-17 going Friday I believe)
10) the beverage station will be located in the back corner, it just wasn't set up yet

They have a few kinks to get out, but all in all, it looks great and puts the others to shame.
