That was a first for me. I've never played in a casino poker room that greeted me with such a foul odor. Disgusting, though I guess I didn't notice after about 10 minutes.

For the last 15 years or so I've managed to make a poker trip to St. Louis about every six months. After the President died I played mostly at Harrah's/Hollywood with an occasional trip over to Ameristar. Although the poker room at Ameristar was top quality they seldom had very many players. Recently I've been looking at Bravo in anticipation of my next trip and it looks like all the players have gone to Ameristar. What caused this change?

Denise got let go from Hollywood, moved to Ameristar, let the regs run the room @ Hollywood, letting the regs run the room @ Ameristar.

I'm not implying it's a bad thing, but everyone followed Denise. That's the long and short of what happened.

IMO, it's a good thing for poker. Instead of 4 casinos w 4 poker rooms where everyone is evenly dispersed, have 1 good room and everyone congregate there!

Well it'd be best to just have enough traffic to have all rooms full all the time always. But yes, if it's having the current pool in one location or spread out you are correct.

Yes. We just don't have the foot traffic or the amount of people coming through STL to make each room full.

Does this mean Ameristar is (or will become) the west side "skinnin' room?"

Yeah. Bravo makes it seem that other casinos have more tables going until you see 4 are for a tournament.

I always subtract those and Ameristar is still in the lead every time.

It's sad that Ameristar runs out of tables and can't open any more bc it's too busy on a fri/sat night. That's what happen last week.

St. Louis doesn't have the foot traffic for one room. (outside WSOP-C or HPT) Let alone four rooms. There shouldn't be more than two rooms. One downtown is St. Louis and one in St. Charles. I've also wondered why the area casinos don't ever have special holiday promotions over holiday weekends. Like special buy-in tournaments. I've never been to the casino on the weekend but I bet it's super packed on three-day weekends. I cut my teeth at Foxwoods poker room in CT so my personal bar of what makes a great poker room is high. Its nice to be able to have a place to play poker in MO but IMO its a far cry from what could be done.

Well donked off a $1500 dollar stack in Omaha. Down $450 so far in Saint Louis. Got it in with 33% but binked it.

I will be in town next Wednesday on business. Would like to play 2/5 or 5/10. Checked bravo yesterday and the only game I saw over 1/3 anywhere was a 5/10 game at Lumiere Place. Is this a regular game every Wednesday? Should I stay there or would Ameristar or Hollywood be a better option?

Regular cost? I don't know how to answer that lol. It's not free but they don't charge you an arm and a leg.

$4 I'd guess. I haven't played there in a while but since you're going tomorrow I was just trying to get you an answer.
