Upstairs by the deli. So upstairs and on the opposite side where it used to be.

How's the vibe at Lumiere? I'll be in town Thursday night with nothing going on and close proximity to this place. BPL wasn't a ton of help and the previous posts seem spotty. Mostly NLHE there I take it? Would i need to travel to Ameristar for LHE? Any insight is appreciated!

All I did as take a quick walk through as I was there to watch not to play but to watch the ufc event at Amerisports. I'm glad the drink situation will be rectified and I do look forward to playing there soon. I hope they continue to do well with the poker as I've always enjoyed visiting the casino.

Lumiere does have PLO too.

Played in the new ameristar room yesterday morning. Was very nice and like previously mentioned the tables are bigger which gives you more room. Next weekend they are having s grand opening party with giveaways, drawings, and free samples from the deli next door.

Played Lumiere 1/3 last night. First and foremost, hate the marble racetrack tables. Cards kept flipping up every other hand and the dealers kept blaming the players, as if they were inadvertently flicking their cards as they were pitched.

That being said, game played pretty crazily relative to Chicago-area games. Lots of pushing/calling off super light. Lots of gross suck outs. Played fairly TAG and ended up just shy of even, unfortunately. Picked one bad spot and it cost me my profit.

Overall, nice looking place but incredibly sketchy surroundings and people all around. Would not feel safe traversing the streets. Glad my hotel had a shuttle service.

What's going on at Ameristar and Hollywood today?

Ameristar has 10 tables running, but 74 on the waiting lists???

And what is that - an actual mixed game at Hollywood? 2-6, NLH & PLO I presume.

Didn't someone say it was their grand opening today?

Yeah, Ameristar grand opening through Sunday 7/23. All kinds of prizes, giveaways, etc. At one point they had 17 tables running yesterday (looked on Bravo). I'd like to take a swing by the place, busy with other stuff though.

RIP to Glen "Top Gun" Rogers who passed away earlier this month.

He won the bracelet for $1,000 Ace to Five Draw at the 1981 WSOP.

Very sorry to hear that, played with Glen for years. He was an absolute riot at times and was a good guy. RIP Glen.

haven't had a chance to play in stl yet but got dinner with my gf and her family in st charles so went by ameristar afterwards. didn't realize they had just opened a new poker room but went up there. can agree with everything said in the long list of comments about the place.

one question about ameristar and i guess every other casino in the city - is the id check always a several-minute game of 20Q with a bunch of rude a-holes? somehow with my clean-shaven, 27 y/o face (that underwent a 5 minute interrogation with a guard in tunica earlier this year), i somehow still appeared to be over 30 years old and didn't have to undergo the id check myself. but while i was waiting for my gf and her sister, i told him how absurd this was in a very respectful manner. he told me they are fined 20k if someone is let in underage and every single person at the front loses their job. seems like a ridiculous consequence, but more importantly does not seem like a reason to go to such extreme measures as they are going through. is this par for the course in stl?

Call the hotel and find out. Worse case scenario, just bring your suitcase into the poker room and put it in a corner. No one is gonna steal your pizza turner.

Heaven forbid someone doesn't want to lose their job. Yes, you might have to wait an extra minute or two if you want to enter the casino or buy beer or smokes in this state. Just deal with it. It's not the end of the world. Heck, I had an old security guard ask me how old I was a few months ago and I'm 44.

$20k is just if they get on the floor. There is another fine if they gamble, another $20k, another fine if they get a drink, $10k. So $50k and yes each security guard, slot attendant, waitress, dealer, supervisor and cage cashier that interacted with them in any way gets punished, most likely termination.

So if you ran a business what precuations would you take to ensure that you don't get a $50k fine and have to terminate multiple employees?

Two quick notes.

One, the 20/40LHE game ran at Ameristar on Saturday this week, in addition to the normal Wednesday/Friday schedule. Great game, surprisingly loose considering it was all regs and myself, who hadn't played this game since it was at Harrah's years ago.

Two, the security has gotten significantly tougher lately about checking and verifying and rechecking IDs. I'm a haggard looking 31, and I've gotten the 5 minute conversation and 20 questions at Hollywood and Ameristar the past 5 times I've been to each.

Seems the fines are between 10k and 60k depending on what the patrons do while in the casino. But yes, it is very annoying. On the weekends at Ameristar, there are people about 20 deep just waiting to get in.

I'm 36 and I've been hassled by security at ameristar several times during the past year. It's an inconvenience, sure, but I understand why they do it. Luckily the past few times I've gone they let me right in. In a way I see it as a compliment that they think I'm still young looking! One day I won't be so lucky!!

thanks for letting me know what to expect - simply was asking if they are going to be accusingly rude each time. also laughable that they thought i looked 30 when my same appearance underwent a 5 minute investigation in tunica 7 months ago that questioned if i was even 21. is lumiere like this as well?

I can only speak for myself (A generally friendly guy to all wait-staff, security, floor, dealers, etc.) and say that they are accusational and passive-aggressively rude. I suspect MGC and management has made them tighten the net a bit, and they're taking it out on young-ish looking patrons. I understand running a tight ship and I respect it, but don't condescend me while doing it.

(Frankly, as a poker player, the casino, and by extension the non-dealer staff, would prefer I wasn't there anyways.)

FWIW I visited Lumiere over the weekend and they simply looked at my ID, put it to a scanner, waited about 10 seconds, and then looked at me and smiled and wished me good luck. My first guess is that STL city might be slightly different than STL/STC counties in this regard legally?
