eldorado has phone chargers on the tables with the auto shufflers, none on the other tables. but the horseshoe wont charge ur phone at all at the table. plus once u put in 200 hours or so in the eldorado, the higher level card u get will give u free buffets every day for the rest of ur life.

I'm headed to the El Derado if anyone wants to meet up and say hi. I'm wearing jeans and a black spaghetti string shirt with flowers. It might be fun to meet some other 2+2rs

Completely random reminiscing........ The poker scene in Shreveport/Bossier is majorly drying up. It's sad but I guess it's just the current state of poker in the US. I've spent so many days and nights playing cards over there it is embarrassing. It just isn't what it used to be. Still fun when you get a good game going and I'm definitely not saying a good player can't win money etc, I'm just talking about the over all star of the poker scene.

I still prefer the Shoe to Eldorado. I've played over at Eldorado a couple times after the O8 game moved there from the Shoe but it's still not my favorite place. My poker buddies and I actually started the $5/10 Full Kill O8 game at the Shoe years ago. Every weekend we'd be there we'd start a list and it would never ever run. We kept saying that eventually it would. We finally drug a few of the $4/8 players over (I won't name names on here) into the game and got it running a few times. After a few months they were getting it running sometimes when we weren't there which was awesome. It finally turned into a regular game. It seems like the WSOP at the Shoe and their Belle of the Red tourney or whatever they called it helped the local players see it could be a good game if you got some money on the table. Tons of fun.

I was partial to El Dorado back in 2009-2010 when I was working in Shreveport. Not that Shoe didn't also have good games, but the Haynesville Shale mega dollars were flowing to the nearby farmers and ranchers. Most of them flooded in to play El Dorado, and were on a steep learning curve for NLHE. Many had been limit 5-card stud players. The games were very juicy. That natural gas money back then was artificially juicing the games.

All that has settled down a good bit by now, and there just isn't as much money floating around. I was in Shreveport, and still got into a real good game on a Friday night. Still players willing to stack off 200 bb with bottom two. My guess is that weeknights are real slow there now. Six years ago, they were going strong 7 days a week.

Horseshoe is like all Harrah's property--the cheapest of everything--cheap chairs, cheap felt, filthy chips, no walking room around tables--just not as nice a playing experience IMO. The clincher for me six years ago was that the Shoe was taking more rake than El Dorado. Don't know if that is still the case.

I agree with your thoughts on Eldorado in the old days. It was actually the only place I used to play in Shreveport/Bossier. Back when the poker room was upstairs on the 3rd level and the room room up 3/4 of the whole floor. Those where the days!

As for the take I can't confirm what the Eldorado is right now but I assume it's $5 + $1 for the jackpot. The last time I was at the Shoe was in June or July and they had upped it to $5 + $2! I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw the dealer drop $2. I obviously thought it was a mistake and nicely mentioned it. She smiled and said, "I can't believe you noticed that.....no one notices things like that." Well some people do.lol She said they upped the jackpot drop to $2 hoping to build big jackpots, thus increasing traffic blah blah. It obviously wasn't working because the room is drying up and it's not just because CET poker rooms generally suck (which they do!) but because poker in general is drying up.

Wow. A $7 total drop in $4/8, $5/10 O8 and $1/3 is borderline unbeatable. Some would say it's flat out unbeatable but I'll leave wiggle room just to be safe.

$4-8 never goes. Omaha is always $10-20 with a kill. It goes about 3 times a week. The rake in $1-3 is easily beatable I average $3000 to $5000 per month. I'm there playing now

Good gosh! $40,000-$60,000 a year at $1/3?! You are killing it, that's amazing. Congrats sir

$7 rake at 1-3 is beatable especially in the south where you are more likely to find uncapped games than you are up north. $7 rake in a $1-2 game capped at $200 buyin like you find commonly up north is either unbeatable or not worth the effort to try.

Where "up north" is there a $200 cap and a $7 rake?

Played with him last night at the Horseshoe. Got on list for 1/3 and he was playing 20/40 Limit 4 handed. Was hammered so probably shouldn't have been playing lol but got run over by the deck and won $725 in 25 minutes until my name got called. Found him to be a bit smug/pompous but played solid. Game broke when I got up

Funny hand happened at the 1/3 that was hard to believe. Old man with $1,000 stack opened for $20 UTG. Young kid UTG +2 calls with $500 stack and button called with around $450 stack. Flop was K52 rainbow. UTG open shoves for his whole stack. UTG+2 thought for 2 minutes and folded. Button thought for a bit and called with K4 . UTG turned over AK. Ran out 3Q so AK won. Crazy over bet but it worked out for him somehow.

The crazy part is the guy next to UTG +2 asked what he had and he swears he had 55 and put UTG solely on KK so he folded. Everyone at the table was in shock.

Hey, I realize it's a long time since this was posted, but just getting around to checking this board. $5+2 is the standard at capped 1-2 and 1-3 games at CET and Hollywood properties in Ohio--Toledo, Cleveland. Same at the Rivers in Pittsburgh. I believe it was that way at Mohegan in Wilkes Barre, PA as well, but it's been a while since I've been there. Can't say for Atlantic City as only been there once in last five years.

May be able to squeeze a Shreveport session next Sunday (1/8) evening. I know that the Shoe will have more games going on a Sunday afternoon/evening, but what is El Dorado likely to have?

I know I risk blowing up the spot but the Eldorado 1/3 game I sat in on Friday was for real. I was a reg from the time they moved it downstairs until the Horseshoe games started getting better in 2011 or so. I always felt that the Eldorado was a better property so I'm happy to see it back.

I believe that all of Atlantic City is 4+2. 5+2 is indeed standard in many places now, including the DC/Baltimore region.

I just happened to stumble in here and saw this. This exact statement from a friend of mine led to a prop bet. I had to beat the 1/2 game for more than $30/hr for one month. I had to play at least 100 hours and couldnt play any other stakes that month. I won the bet easily. I played 175 hours at $44.50/hr. Im not saying that win rate is sustainable, but the game is easily beatable if you are better than the other players. Just like most every game.

The Horseshoe has a $250 buy-in $10,000 guarantee at 11am on Saturdays.

Also their bad beat is currently at $200,000 (it's capped) if you play any cash games.
