Games at El Dorado are terrible and not many running. Definitely spend your time at the Shoe.

El Dorado has kind of an old-time feel to it, like you are playing poker in the 90s. The poker room is tucked in a corner in the casino with old wallpaper. There are no auto-shufflers and the chairs and tables are old.

That being said, the games are super soft. But they are also soft at the Horseshoe.

Yeah, when I said terrible, I meant they will make you want to swallow a bullet, not that they're tough. FWIW, my sample size is like 2 for playing at El Dorado.

The last time I was there was when El Dorado was just getting a poker room started. Back in 2006, maybe? It was old looking like I was in the movie The Shining lol.

Actually Eldorado had a much better room back then, 15-20 tables, big games, lots of action.

That action has shifted to the Shoe over the years.

One note though. Shoe spread 1/3 NL, not 1/2 (if that matters). 2/5 runs somewhat regularly on the weekend, but don't count on it. If you like nosebleeds PLO however, this is your place.

Games are unbelievably soft at either venue.

I guess it's all relative, but I've seen as high as 50-100 PLO. Typically it's 5-10 or 10-25, and plays very deep. Game runs on Mondays for sure, and most Fri/Sat.

I've seen 25-50 PLO run multiple times. Pretty sure it goes twice a week.

I played with him at a $1/3 game when he was waiting for a seat at the 5/10 PLO game. I remember him pulling out a stack of 10k and about 50 purple chips out of his pocket.

I thought he was one of the wealthy car dealers from Marshall that you mentioned. I had no idea he was actually a legit player.

Played with a guy on Friday who has played with him a good amount in the past and heard a few details, but he seems like an interesting guy and would love to find out more.

It looks like his biggest score is not even listed on his Hendon page. He won a FTOPS event for $410k.

My roommate is decent friends with him. Story i got from roommate is that his parents were loaded and left a trust with him years ago worth untold millions.

Pretty sure Keith has done well and played cash quite high for a number of years. Back a couple of years before Money Maker score, the ElDorado (then Hollywood 01-02 maybe early 03) had amazing action when I played there maybe 4 or 5 times a year passing through town on business.

The trip that made me think about all this, I was in town for the night and stooped in for a short 4-8 or 10-20 session. I was standing next to the brush stand watching a 6 handed game that appeared to be the end of a tournament.

I asked the brush how often they played the tournaments and what the buy in was. She chuckled and said it was a cash game. I just assumed it was a tournament because it was so much freaking money and I remember being amazed at the number of black chips on the table in a 6 handed game. Not sure why but no purple or yellow, just a few K in green and a **** load of black, maybe a 150k. I'm pretty sure they were playing 50-100 PL Holdem. The brush said they were a bunch of pros from Dallas and they were only ther because it was the only night there wasn't a big game in Dallas.

Keith appeared to be running the game back then and I've seen him dozens of times in the larger PLO game since then.

No, I just posted it because I always think it's so random that they just have a few little games running and then they'll have a table with $100k+ on it. Looks pretty funny.

I think I saw a few games like that when I was in Shreveport but they chose not to put them on Bravo because they didn't want to draw attention to them. They were also "invite only" games.

Can't have "invite only" games in a casino AFAIK. They can do things to discourage you from buying in, but can't outright deny you a seat.

Shreveport is hardly some sort of hotbed, but there are some guys out there with big money who play huge. Read through the thread.

Dunno how legal it was but floor closed off half the room and told me it was invite only.
