The boardwalk near the casinos is cool if you want to do some shopping. The one thing I dislike about Tunica is there is nothing to do except gamble. That is not the case in Shreveport. Next time we go, the wife can go shopping while I play poker. The cab service was pretty good in town as well.
I will be returning.
Good review. I agree that a huge benefit of Shreveport/Bossier is the shopping and dining options for the wives and families. There is a ton of great local restaurants in the area if you know where to look or who to ask. There is a ton of shopping and the Boardwalk is a great all day experience for the women. Excellent point about Tunica also. My wife and I love Tunica and it's dirt cheap (although it's 7.5 hours away) but we can't really go with another couple because none of my friend's wife's are willing to just sit by the pool or goof off around the casino for 3-4 days. And there is NOTHING else to do there.
Too bad Bossier doesn't have all the poker rooms that Tunica does.
One thing that I find as a big plus for the Horseshoe in Bossier is the dealers. They have a great crop of dealers, most of whom are very good at their job and very personable. I've played in some rooms, Tunica included, where the dealers were horrible and their personalities were so bad they actually distracted from the game.
