Great new poker room in Richmond, VA. No longer have to drive 1.5 hours to MGM National Harbor.

I popped in last week while on travel. It's a decent room, 10 tables of 1/2, 1/3, and 2/5. Seems like mostly regulars, saw the same faces on repeat visit, they knew each other but I didn't see any softplay.

Not sure what the legal status of VA poker will be- there was some chatter about a pending ruling. What they do for live games is collect a $5 fee at buy-in, as the "tournament" entry, which eventually goes back on your player card, tho I didn't stick around long enough to verify that. There's also $6+2 rake.

The fun feature is that with every new down, there's a $5 double board bomb pot. You can double straddle to $10 in 1/3, and straddle around the table in 2/5

Note that this room closed, effective 6/30. There was pending litigation that was held up with several injunctions, but Pops lost their recent lawsuit when the General Assembly made some changes to "charitable gaming" laws that went into effect on 7/1/22. They're still hoping to reopen in the future, but it doesn't look good.
