It's appreciated

My favorite thing about the room is the dealers. In some (larger) rooms there are some dealers who are very friendly toward regs, and basically ignore anyone else outside the actual game play. At the boat, most dealers are overall very friendly to everyone at the table, and some go above and beyond to make the game fun for everyone there. There's one dealer I've had a couple of times lately, I think his name is Joseph (might be Jason..?? - Young guy with one of those thin beards just around the jawline), he did such a great job of getting the entire table engaged, making jokes, putting smiles on everyone's face yet still running the game efficiently and accurately. By no coincidence whatsoever, the action was great and even the losers were having a good time.

Obviously the Mikes in the thread get huge props for all they do for the room and us.

A few other dealers I've personally had good experiences with that's I'd like to mention:

Joseph (as previously mentioned)
Fui - great attitude and very friendly
Julio - always runs a fun table
Christy - subject to mood swings on occasion, but even when she's cranky it's in a funny endearing way, and usually runs a tight efficient table

Also, to whoever does the hiring of dealers, thanks for finding us some women who are pleasant to look at!!

(The above is NOT meant to be all-inclusive - Most of the dealers at the Boat share many of the same qualities I talk about - These are just a few I recall off the top of my head)
It was great to finally meet you too! How did you do in the 2PM? I left for the day at 4:30PM so it was still running when I left. Thanks for the props to our dealing staff. We definitely do try our best to make each and every customer feel welcome just as if they have been frequenting our room all the time. That is one thing about our training that is good for the customers.. We are trained to introduce ourselves every time we sit down and also learn the customers' names, so that is one thing that I think makes our dealers great. I am absolutely TERRIBLE with names, so for me, I have learned quite a bit.. lol

As for the female dealers, well let's just say I completely agree with you there.. lol

Sorry to have to agree with you here, but Rod is 100% correct. I definitely do not think that the dual-rates are intentionally trying to be rude at all. When they have to basically learn their position from "learning by experience" plus doing many other jobs other than being a "floor" (i.e. running the podium, answering the phones, etc..) it gets very frustrating for them.

This is especially the case when the 11AM, 2PM, and 7PM tourneys are just getting underway. I've seen some of them talking on the phone to customers, entering new patrons into the computer, and directing people towards their seats all at once, while they have people screaming in their ears that they want on the alternate list for the tournament. No dual-rate should be expected to do this. Some of them are at their wits-end, and I cannot blame them.

I am like Rod in that I am not making excuses for any poor customer service that any of our customers receive, however, I can understand why it is happening. Until our management fully-staffs our room with an actual person hired just to run the podium/answer phones and have the floors do what their job description is supposed to be ( a FLOOR should be on the FLOOR) then stuff like this can be expected.

There are positives I have heard by management, but until they actually get them done, the customers are the ones that have to suffer. New tournies, promotions have definitely been brought up and are being worked on, but in the next meeting (which is this weekend from what I hear) I will be sure to bring up all complaints I have seen in the past month since the last meeting and try to get a solid answer on what will be done.

There was one table of 2/4 running and two tables of 1/2 running.

We waited around for an hour to be call for the tournament or a cash game, that is bad management off a poker room, we waked to the Taj in 5 minutes we where playing in the cash game.

I was mad because I brought to 2 more guys with me to play poker at the SB.

At 1 o’clock I and one off my friend left the Taj to play in the 2:00 pm tournament
In the SB. There where 77 players for the tournament sweet we got in the tournament I love the way the blind are set up in SB. I finish in 3 places an won $534.00 not bad for
6 hr off poker I had to grind a lot.

The SB need to run a better poker room for the cash games.

I had a red NY Giant had on.
This is another issue that needs to be addressed to the management, and I will bring it up to them for you. This one is a little more tricky to get accomplished since staffing for the dealers is highly dependant on staffing from last year, the Bad Beat Jackpot, holidays, and any big events in town. Going off of staffing from last year (at least from what I can remember,) December 30th was pretty slow, which is why they probably didn't have enough dealers scheduled for the day. I was off Tuesday, so I am not 100% sure what happened.. Could have been some people calling off sick as well.

Management's issue with staffing is that they certainly don't want to be understaffed (which obviously was the case on Tuesday..) but they also don't want to overstaff, because that is when the dealers start to get upset. When we are overstaffed, the part-time and on-call dealers get forced out because they are not needed, and that makes for some angry dealers. On days that were unusually slow, I've seen part-timers come in for their 11AM shift, only to get forced out at 12PM or 1PM.. some of them driving 30 minutes or more to get to work.

The worst is when the Bad Beat Jackpot is very high, they staff a lot of dealers, and then it gets hit. Then business dies down and we are very overstaffed for a week. Not a fun week for us for sure...

It's a touchy situation, but I will definitely bring it up to see what can be done in the future.

Glad to hear. Haven't seen you in awhile, man! Alan said that Hoan won't be at this one though, which kinda sucks, but Steve will be there, so at least someone will be there to hear what we have to say.. See ya there!

Him not being there is probably a good thing, I think we have to voice our opinions to everyone. I havent spoken to steve yet I dont think. One thing that really need to be addressed is the felt. I dont see any blackjack felt that looks like ours...so y should we if table games "runs" our room.

I think you should, as long as you keep Yessy as a floor lady, cause she looks so much better then in her dealer outfit

I guess I met one of the "other" Mikes on 12/26, he said NJ Mike was around but I didn't see him.

Not only is this very true, but she is one of the few that actually walks you to your table instead of giving you what is becoming known as "the Showboat point."
01-02-2009 , 05:37 PM
Welp, it's getting close to time that I donate some more cash to everyone else at the tables at the Showboat and since they sent me a decent room offer to go with my extra paycheck from work...I'm coming down W-Su of either 1/81-2/1 or 2/4-2/8.

Would there be any particular reason I'd want to choose one set of dates over the other? Either a good game at the Boat, a good tourney someplace else, or any other compelling reason to target one way or the other?

any chance of PLO at the boat this weekend? Im leaving the house now to run errands then off to the casino. I will call the b oat and see if there is a list, if there is a list I will go there, if not Im off to caesars.

it would be $30 if you are playing 1/2. The couple of times that I have used the coupons it worked fine. I am not sure about the hourly rate for 2/5 but any game up to 1/2 is just 50 cents per hour. I know, because I just started playing, and one day a little old lady asked about the hourly rate, because well, it was important to her. 2/4, 3/6, and 1/2 give you some money back, at the same rate.

The hourly rate for $1/$2NL at all HET properties in AC is $1/hour.

2/4 LHE is $.50/hour
3/6 LHE and 1/2NL is $1.00/hour.

Ok, let's clear up this "reward mutiplier credit" thing before we get 92 posts of worthless incorrect information. I will use 1/2 NL for the example.

When you play 1/2NL, you receive 24 tier credits per hour and 100 reward credits per hour (which is $1). Of those reward credits, 24 are BASE reward credits and 76 are BONUS reward credits. When you receive a reward credit multiplier, only the BASE reward credits are multiplied.

Ok, so let us say you have a 4x multiplier for the day and you decide to head down to Showboat for some poker. You arrive, put your coupon in the box, and head to the poker room. You get there, get swiped in, play 10 hours, and leave.

After you clock out, you receive your $10.00 in comps.

A few days later, you will receive your multiplier credits, which again, only applies to your BASE reward credits. 24 BASE reward credits (tier credits and BASE reward credits will always be the same) * 4x multiplier = 96 credits ($.96) x 10 hours = $9.60.

For 2/4 LHE, you earn 14 tier credits an hour and 50 reward credits an hour. So for your reward credits, 14 will be BASE credits, and 36 will be BONUS reward credits.

Did a PLO game get going last night? I don't think it was running before I left (7PM.. yikes, a 12 hour day for me... lol) It sure was busy though..
01-03-2009 , 11:41 AM
It didn't run as of around 10pm. I left around then.

I don't know why we have never met. I am sure we have probably played in the room at the same time several times.
