Different person....the one you are talking about is there much of the time, deals at Borgata and plays at Showboat (tourneys and cash), the one Pantywaxer was speaking about had the initials "KT" when they called her to table...she was good, talked like she usually played in a bigger game, don't know where though....

I would have thought that by now the room would be 10x what it was when I first started there and it has improved a ton, but if we had 1/3 the budget Harrah's was given we would be 10x the room they are.

I just am not sure exactly how I want to phrase just how important giving back to the players even a little bit makes such a huge difference, especially your regular players who are really nice and take care of the staff.
Rod, I think the best thing you could do would be to express your concerns just as you laid them out and then advise the "powers that be" to speak with the "regulars" privately, away from the poker room to get their feedback.

I have heard that the 'Boat poker room does not get the budget to do a lot of things...frankly I just don't understand that, if they spent the time/money and energy to move the room downstairs and expand it...a little extra expenditure could go a long way to maximizing their investments....

Please feel free to print this out and show your bosses....

As you know I am not shy about speaking my mind and would say all I have said here directly to them (and infact have said to chris several times).

Will do when that meeting comes Beaudog. I really like the idea of the higher up's talking to the regulars about their concerns. I think we both agree that losing the only higher of the low stakes games would be a huge hit to the room.

The asian female with "KT" intials killed the 5/5 table she had a stack of atleast 3 -5k , ive played with most of the other people before ... Yellow shirt seat 9, blonde with glasses seat 6 or 7, and the guy with the oversized earphones. all good players never seen the one girl though. she looked really familiar though
07-29-2008 , 02:13 PM
First time I had seen her....from her early talking at the table, it sounded like she was used to a "faster game"...pre-flop raises 85 (she said)...the 5/5 game at the Boat plays much slower PF...lots of limping and calling of a single raise (usually in the 25-40 range)...post flop plays faster and higher and tighter....if 2 or 3 people still there on the turn, pot tends to get big fast.

I left table after about an hour of her being there (went to play 7p tournament), during that time she made lots of under her breath comments about trying to figure the game out....I guess she did if you said she had a big stack. After tournament I didn't go back to table, so I don't know what stacks looked like.

(She seemed to be sizing up the table, which is the right thing to do when coming into a new situation and shows that she had some game.)

Though I did hear that there was some insane action after about 10pm....

YA i left the 1/2 table at around 9ish, the guy at my table was getting on my nerves at one point he caught a straight flush with 2s3c on a flop of 335, against a all in with pocket AA's for around a 125 dollar pot. My table was full of rocks not usually like any other 1/2 tables.
What happened after 10pm.... i still there playing blackjack and winning alot holdem was making me tired

I dont think the guy with the headphones was a good player. I think he was a bit tight, and when he played the tournament sunday afternoon he played some hands really poorly. He didn't show any hands down when I was there, but I wasn't exactly a fan of his style for the way the 5/5 game plays.

Sounds like a West Coast player adjusting to an East Coast game to me.

I play out west (NoCal and SoCal) for a week about every 3-4 months. The games there are much more aggressive than on the East Coast. The players are no better. . . it's simply a different style. Of course, individual tables still vary.

Rod,

I just hope you don't talk about my play when I leave

It's great to see professionalism doesn't matter on the internet.

since when does having an opinon make oneself unprofessional?

it's not like he's sitting at the poker table telling everyone else around the table that the guy with the headphones is awful, someone bust him.

he's allowed to post his opinion here, like everyone else. being a dealer should not force him to keep his mouth shut, IMO

Not any worse then a Taj dealer that told me straight to my face during a tournament that I under played my aces when I made a 6xBB raise with AA and UTG called with 6 3and hit two pair on the flop (all in after flop)

I gave UTG the "you f***in donkey" look and the dealer stands up for him and said he had to call, that I did not raise enough to knock him out.

That said, I made the rest of his down as much of a pain as I could.

I agree, but I thought I was going to get some discussion in as to why the OP thought he was a good player, because I just didn't see it as he really didn't do much while I was there. He played really tight and I think a good player would want to play some pots with some of the regulars in the game. That is all, I didn't intend to come off as unprofessional. Which looking back my comment may have been.

When he was playing the tourney he looked as though he was just messing around because he was talking to me and smiling and stuff, totally different from the way he was acting in the 5/5 game which he was taking super seriously. So I basically take back what I said after more thought. I still think I am allowed to post my opinion in a respectful manner on peoples playing ability in this thread though.

For all the good things I think I brought to this thread I am allowed one slip up before everyone jumps down on me right? =)

Of course you are entitled to your opinion. Didn't realize how sensitive some of these people can be!

just so we're clear, xrodx isnt reponding to me. i supported him

Guys, lets not get crazy here AC Sandman has a very good point. The way I worded my comment was super unprofessional. Which is y he only singled out one sentence. I think if I simply asked, "what made you think he was a good player? I didn't see him play any pots in the 5/5 game and when I saw him play the tournament he played a short stack a bit unstandardly" would have sufficed. Looking deeper I think it is my job to simply try and answer questions in the thread to the best of my ability and leave my opinions to myself. I apologize.

I just agreed with you that I should be allowed to express my opinions, but I honestly take that back. My soul purpose in this thread should be to help with the word of mouth promotion of the room as we really do have a diamond in the ruff potential. The rest of my opinions should be kept to myself.

Just busting stones, everyone relax.

Rod, don't sweat it. It's great to have you involved with this thread and letting people know what is up with the Showboat. I always enjoy reading your posts.

I will be in AC on wednesday for a couple days. Any one interested in trying to get the 1-2 PLO or PLO/HO game going? Ideally wednesday or thursday evening...
07-30-2008 , 03:04 AM
atrain your best chance is thursday evening, but if you were there on the weekend you would have had a much better shot at the PLO game.

Not really, i was there on Fri and went up to the desk to ask if there was an interest list for PLO. The floor (Jaclyn) asked me "What is PLO?" I asked her if she was joking and she said no, I busted out laughing, she got mad and stomped away from the podium. Yessica came up and asked me what I wanted, I asked her and she at least knew it was Omaha. Needless to say there was no list and no game.

Yessica is fine
