As many of you know, I deal at Showboat along with rod. We need your help. Today, curtains have been installed in the room that completely block out the boardwalk/ocean view that we have. We finally got something to make us unique and stand out, and now it's gone. From what I heard, the order came from someone high in the company above anyone in our room. My guess is that they don't want people to see when it turns dark at night or when the sun comes up in the morning. That would be fine if it were a slot room or table games where the house makes much more.. but the poker room??
I know many of you have praised the fact that we have a great atmosphere and that you do enjoy the view. If this is the case, speak up when you come visit us. One of my managers said if enough people speak up, it might make a difference. I know that today at work a lot of players were pretty upset about the new change, and a few of them said "Now Showboat is just another room again.." because of this.
I loved the fact that we had the nice view. Sure, some days when the sun shined brightly or when the glare got too bad on the cards on some of the tables by the window, we would have to close the blinds. But overall, it made us unique, and most of us enjoyed it.

When I was at Showboat last month, I really enjoyed the nice view (check out my posts). But unfortunately, too many dealers were enjoying the nice view as well, and I got pretty damned tired of calling the action and running the game.
As soon as PJ (were those the initials?) and all those other break-in dealers are up to speed, then your management should definitely consider opening up the curtains. Until then, let folks go to the beach when they want a view. When they go to a poker room, they should be able to get a poker game.
Better to have the view and the game, of course. But at least give me the friggin' game until you guys can handle both.
