I think its great that the borgata opened in AC and that it has spured somewhat of a rejuvination in the town....its own new tower, harrah's new tower, the new Revele project that is going up fast, the new MGM resort that is coming in....
It new poker room definately set a standard, and to a certain extent has decimated the Taj....
The borgata fills the top niche in AC...but for a new player it can be quite intimidating and for a weekend player who is really not looking to deal with the "cool" folks who populate and are the borgata's main targets, the Borgata does leave something to be desired....
While Harrahs, with its new tower & expanded poker room (with a cage...yay) may be looking to go after some of borgata's biz directly...the showboat I believe is in a different mind-set.
Right now, I think Showboat's room (that includes, floor people dealers, ambiance, pit managers, waitresses...the whole shebang) is close to becoming the best on the boardwalk. As they keep growing their game base they will become the best....not on Borgata's level (granted) but on a more basic, "regular guy/gal" sort of way.
