Thanks a lot man, I try to keep the games friendly but moving...took some practice to say the least.

I don't think any of them were me, but I am glad you made some monies!
Hey Rod, don't think it was me either. I never hit table 16. Must have been one of the other 3 of us.. lol

I played the new room for the first time last. It's great

I didn't see any Mikes, but will be back today for some more.

The drink service was kind of fantastic, especially since that's really what I was there for, donking 2/4. The food wasn't bad, either

I'm actually a Mike also, I just had a son and people keep asking if I'm going to name him after myself. I said hell no. I work in a team of 7 people and 3 of us are Mikes. I like the name, but it's annoying that anywhere you go you'll hear "Hey Mike" and turn around with a few other guys.

At any rate, I'm having trouble remembering what the first Mike looked like, but the one that dealt the tourney and cash had what I've heard reffered to as a "chinstrap" beard (real thin) and semi blingy though not huge diamond looking earrings.

Yea he is the newest one, hes a pretty good dealer for only like 3 weeks in. The two Mikes that post in this thread are the one's that wear glasses. So say hi to us, I am the shorter scrawny one.

You saying I'm fat? lol j/k

Yes, the newest Mike is a very good dealer for just starting out. I followed him a few times in the rotation and he seemed to handle things very well.

I just returned from a day trip to Atlantic City, and ended up playing at the Showboat again today. I still have not met either of the Mike's that post in this thread. As a matter of fact, I had almost all female dealers throughout my session.

I arrived around 2 p.m. and was slightly disappointed to see nothing but $1/2 NL and $2/4 limit. I was hoping at least $3/6 LHE would be going, but there was not even a list for 3/6. I know Beaudog posted earlier in the thread that there was a $3/6 LHE game with a full kill going a few weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon, but $3/6 LHE has not been running the last few Sundays I have been at the Showboat.

I walked next door to the Taj and 2/4, 3/6 and 5/10 LHE all had at least four names on the list. Since I was just down for the day on a bus trip, I didn't really want to wait too long for a seat. I walked back over to the Showboat and decided to play $2/4 LHE for fun.

In the first 20 minutes I was there, I flopped a set of 4s, a set of kings and quad 5s. I know $2/4 LHE is a donkey game, but I still find myself shocked at how ******ed some of the players can be. In the hand where I flopped a set of kings, the guy next to me chastised me after the hand for raising pre-flop with KK. He told me that he never raises pre-flop because you never know where you are until after the flop. I just chuckled and said to him, "Yea, I was lucky to flop a third king."

After about three hours, my 2/4 table broke and I got moved to another 2/4 table. I had only played a few hands when Yessica came around to our table to ask if anyone was interested in playing a $60+15 sit 'n go. I had heard the floor call this sit n' go twice within the last hour and it never went. I asked how mahy seats were open yet, and she said one.

I decided to play the sit 'n go, since I had never played one at the Showboat before. I put my $51 profit from $2/4 toward the $75 SNG seat, but I was surprised when I got to the table and found that it was still two players short. Apparently, two of the players that were originally interested in the SNG bailed when they saw the structure. After waiting for about 30 minutes for the SNG to fill, I was starting to get nervous that I was going to miss my bus, even with the fast structure.

The floor was eventually able to round up two more players so the SNG could begin. I realize SNG live structures are bad everywhere, but some of the players in my SNG made the bad structure even worse by Hollywooding 60-90 seconds pre-flop. I wanted to scream, "Come on, people. The blinds go up every 15 minutes."

We started with 2,000 chips and blinds at 25/50. The people at the table played so slow that we played all of eight hands at the 25/50 level. I was horribly card dead throughout the entire SNG. As the blinds increased, I kept waiting for a hand to push with -- and it never came. I played all of three hands before my all-in hand: AK (flopped two pair and won a small pot), AQ (raised pre-flop, then folded to a bet after the flop) and pocket 3s (missed the flop and folded to a bet).

With the blinds at 300/600, I had 825 left when the big blind got to me. I knew I was moving all in with ATC. I ended up all in with Qh5h, and I knew I was pretty much done. Three people called my all in, and the board had nothing for me. I busted out in sixth place.

On the third hand of the SNG, a guy busted with pocket 9s on a 10 high flop. I just sat there thinking, "How the hell can anyone go broke on the third hand in that spot."

I still love playing at the Showboat because of the friendly floor and dealers, but I don't know that I would play another SNG there. There really didn't seem to be much play for $75. Like I siad, I still love playing at the Showboat, but that's JMO.

The new Showboat room is such a comfortable place; I wish they would be able to get some larger limit games running more frequently.

Anyone know how many 1/2 NL tables are going during the weekday evenings (say about 6:00 PM Monday through Thursday)?

I was thinking about heading there tonight but if it's dead, I'll go to the Borgata. I did stop by at the Showboat for the 1st time yesterday and I was impressed by the card room.....pretty sharp. However, there didn't seem to be a lot of people playing. I would have thought it would be a lot busier on a Sunday at 2:00 PM.

Wow, I probably even saw you yesterday, since I arrived at the same time. I know when I arrived, there were four tables of $1/2 NL running and two tables of $2/4 LHE. I was kinda surprised as well that there weren't more people playing. The Showboat is a much friendlier place to play than the Taj, but the Taj was packed.

Unless you come early in the day, chances are I won't get to deal to you. I usually come in either 7AM-3PM or some days 6AM-2PM. During the mornings before 11AM, there is usually 1 or 2 1/2NL games running during the week and sometimes 3 or 4 on the weekends (depending on how high the bad beat jackpot is..) I would definitely get to deal to you between 7AM and 11AM if you were there.

I'll have to let xrod answer your question about the weekday evenings since I am usually gone by then, but as for yesterday, it was VERY dead for a Sunday afternoon. Not sure what was up with that. Sometimes we have twice as many games as we did yesterday. Even the tourney was pretty light for the 11AM.

Weekdays have been pretty slow lately, I would say around 3-4 2/4 games and 4-5 1/2 games. The issue with that time (6pmish) is the older 2/4 players are catching dinner and/or their bus and the NL players are jumping in the 7pm tourney. There is a mass exodus at this time.

Hmmm.....thanks for the info.

4-5 1/2 NL tables isn't too bad. I will be there tonight.

Hi Mike, I was there yesterday morning (Sunday) playing 1/2 and I thought you were one of our table's dealers...we were the rowdy table on the left when you first walk in....I was sitting directly across from you wearing a black Nike hat. Anyway, belated "hi".

Yes, I remember dealing to you at that table. I had fun at your table. Some interesting topics to say the least.. lol I get a lot of tables in the mornings that can be boring sometimes because half of the players are so tired from playing all night. I think I remember you being there a few times before but didn't know who you were. Make sure to say hi next time you come in.

the other Mike, who is described as having a chin strap beard.. I think is the one who gave me a very puzzled look when I asked him "Are you the Mike that posts on 2+2?" Thankfully rod17 was apparently the next dealer coming to the table, overheard the conversation, and said "No, that's me". Made it a little less awkward.

Anyway - Mike with the beard.. if he has only been dealing there for three weeks, kudos to him. Kept the game moving, very friendly, did a very good job dealing. Good dude.

Yea he looked really confused. I knew you were asking for NJMike, but I assumed you would be looking out for me too. I pointed NJMike out to you....he was on a dead table you should have said hi.

Sort of a TR for my 1st trip to the Showboat which took place yesterday evening (keep in mind that I'm used to the Borgata).....

Walked up and was greeted by a pretty female named Diana who told me there was open 1/2 NL and that I should get my chips from the window. Get the chips and I thought to myself how the chips were an ugly color (the $5 chips) and that they were a little dirtier compared to the Borgata's. No biggie. I sit down at a table with about 7 other guys and the only memorable decent hand was QQ that I had to fold preflop when some guy made it $25 to go. Looking back on it, I was probably beating him at that point based on his play. Anyway, that table quickly broke up and I jumped into another full table. Not many big hands here. Won a decent size pot with AK suited and won the blinds with KK but nothing too major. By the way, there's a female dealer whose name starts with a P that looks a lot like the singer Paula Deanda. She was a cutie too. Back to poker....there was this younger asian kid to my right who was playing crazy aggressive. He was winning pots and he wasn't afraid to bet. He didn't seem like that great of a player. It seemed like he was just catching cards. Anyway, this hand happened to cap off my night......

I'm sitting with KK. The player to my right (the asian kid) makes it $32 to go preflop. I just call with my KK. The flop comes 2 - 2 - 7. He checks. I bet $100 and he moves all in. I have about $160 left after my $100 bet and he has me covered. Being that he's been playing really aggressive and doesn't seem like that solid of a player, I call his all-in.

He flips over 7 - 7 for a boat and I lose.

Who the hell raises to $32 preflop with pocket 7's? At least beat me with Aces.....geez.

So, in summary, here's my Showboat Pros/Cons:

Pros:
Nice, spacious room
Quick drink service
Friendly dealers and staff
Players at 1/2 NL don't seem to be all that good
Bad beat jackpot

Cons:
Dirty, ugly chips
Drinks were small in plastic cups (and can they PLEASE get a lid for the coffee that you can drink through)

Even though I lost money, it was still an enjoyable experience I'm hoping to make another trip back tomorrow evening.

Mucker...every person that works at the Showboat wears a pin that says DIANA on it. It is an acronym for costomer service. So that was not her name which made me lol a little bit, but nice trip report. Hope to see you again soon.

Nice tr. A few notes about the cons. I definitely agree with the lids that they serve the coffee in. A lot of people complain about that. One good thing about the drinks though is they serve bottled beer. That is a plus for a lot of people. The chips? Not the cleanest, but not the worst (my vote goes to Taj)

Glad you had an enjoyable trip. Hopefully will get a chance to deal to you when you come back.
