How exactly do they handle giving you the free parking? Can you get free parking for the indoor lot as well?

I'm not sure if they are doing the "free parking after earning 25 reward credits" anymore. Maybe someone else can confirm/deny this. My last trip two weeks ago, after clocking out, I went to the self-service kiosk to print my free parking voucher. Nothing showed up. Walked around, waited 15 minutes, checked again, nothing showed up. So I gave up and walked out. So I can assume either no more free parking (for gold card/no card holders) or that the desk was extremely slow in clocking me out.

If the "free parking voucher" promotion is still valid, It is run though your Harrah's total rewards players card. When you park, you pay $5 to enter the garage. After you are done playing, when you clock out, if you have earned at least 25 reward credits, go to a self-service kiosk, swipe your card, print a free parking voucher, and take that with your parking receipt to the casino cashier cage, and they will give you $5. In the poker room, you only earn credits on cash game, about 25/hour at $2/$4. You get nothing for tournaments.

So if you do this way, I assume you cannot park in the surface lot? There you pay on exit so you would not have a parking receipt until later.

Can I assume then in their underground lot you pay as you enter? I just started another thread trying to find out at which casinos you pay as you enter or exit.

I just contributed to that thread as well. Yes, at Showboat, you pay as you enter the parking garage. I do not know how the surface lot works, and from what I understand, the parking situation there is never consistant. One day, there is no one manning the booth, the next day there is. I believe if the "free parking voucher after earning 25 reward credits" promotion is still valid, you should be able to present the voucher to the surface lot parking attendant as you leave.

It all depends on when you play. When you clock out, they mark the time that you left on a receipt that is printed out. That receipt is then sent to the cage in the morning (around 6AM I believe.) Your play and rewards credits are not updated until then. If you are playing overnight, say 1AM-7AM, it will show up then because your play has been recorded. If you play from like 1PM-7PM, it won't.

If you play slots/video poker or table games (other than poker), it will immediately get credited into your account.

If you have any problems with the vouchers, just go to the Total Rewards desk and they should be able to help.

I was there last night, and there is a sign on the kiosk as you enter that says this is still true, although I haven't done it. I usually have a receipt from playing at Borgata earlier in the day.

I haven't been able to get my card to be recognized at the self-service kiosk even though the poker desk swipes it no problem and the points are showing up when I check online. Do I have to set it up initially somehow? The Total Rewards desk either has too long a line or is closed when I walk by.

I just checked on the total rewards site and apparantly I have been earning about 100 credits for each hour of playing at the 3/6 limit or 1/2 no limit tables. This is still just a a dollar an hour in actual credit I guess, but would suggest that someone above was correct when he said you only needed to play for 15 minutes to get free parking, if the "Parking with 25 credits" deal is still valid. Sure would be nice if we got this completely sorted out though.

The "free parking voucher" with 25 credits is still valid - but see NJMike's post a few up and how it relates to the poker room. I assumed it was all instant when your card was swiped at the desk, but that is not the case.

I think the poker desk should have free parking voucher slips that they can give to people after they clock out. I do not think it is fair that granny can get her parking voucher instantly after she earns her 25 reward credits on a penny slot machine, but I would have to wait what could be hours to get mine after playing a 12-18 hour poker session.

Last time I was there the desk did have vouchers, gave me one when I clocked out (I had to ask) and I just went to the cashier's window and got my $5.

Did you also have to show a receipt from the parking garage to get the $5?

Yes.

Any idea if the receipt had to be from the same day? For example, if I parked there overnight but only played on the second day, could I still get the $5 refund?

I played teh Showboat tourney in Dec or Jan as well. I thought the structure was horrible. At dinner break, I was 5th in chips with 143k, blinds and antes were 14k. So im shortstacked, and in 5th place (65 or so to go, 45 or so is money). and 30 min later antes doubled from 500 to 1k. There was no postflop at all at this point.

No idea if this will be same structure as upcoming tourney

Are you sure it was the Showboat? Normally their tournaments have no antes.

The daily poker tournaments at Showboat have no antes. The special tournaments, like the one in July, does have antes.

Does anyone know what the structure for the July 12th tournament is going to be? If it's a crapshoot I might as well save my money

Just spoke with the Showboat poker room and got the scoop...

25 minute blinds
10,000 starting chips
blinds start 25/50
Antes start at 4th level

There will also be bikini babes....

Its about equal to the Friday & Saturday Borgata structure (the main difference being 25 minute levels as opposed to 30 minute levels)....

I have played in the other 2 they have done recently and its a fun day, with some good money to be had at the end....

I am assuming from your post that you play online....if so the Showboat is not a bad place to have your first "LIVE" experience. I really like the new room and I have always felt that the dealers and floor people are some of the best in AC...way better than the taj....and very much on par with the Borgata...

The big difference with the Borgata is just the nature of the room. For me the Borgata could be a little intimidating for the first time Live player....though it depends what stakes you want to play.

I would do the showboat this trip, and then try the borgata and see which you like better.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, I think Showboat is a good place for you to lose your live virginity. I was intimidated the first time I played at Borgata, and I had been playing live for 4 years.

I am going to be there all day this Thursday, July 3. Not planning on being there tournament weekend unless I win a satellite.

But good luck to you. Just make sure to have fun after your nerves calm down.

Cool man looking forward to dealing to you, just a bit of advice: get a wristband from a security guard to prove your age because there are 2 that just love to run around asking anyone for their id just to do something. They are nice guys, but take that part a little too seriously.

What are you going to play, just the big tourney or some cash also?
06-30-2008 , 08:29 PM
Hey thanks for the tip Rod. I'll definitely look into the wristband thing. I'm planning on playing 1/2NL cash Friday afternoon/night and then the tournament Saturday at noon. Maybe some cash after that if I'm not too fried! If not I'll just be checking out the casino and having fun in AC on Saturday night.

Any more info about the satellites? Sorry, I'm an AC noob.
