I have never noticed overt collusion. The players keep the game pretty clean. It's no different than Gemini for example. If anything I see less angle-shooting at NST. I've seen people kicked out for being drunk; Joe runs a pretty tight ship.

Of course I'm sure shady things happen in all card rooms, but I've never seen anything that stood out. There are a lot of regulars, and they all seem to be there to either make money, or feed their gambling addiction, or entertain themselves. I don't think any of the regulars would stand for collusion.

Sometimes when a particularly bad player leaves after spweing off their stack, people may comment on their play. They may say things like "yeah he always comes in Friday drunk and donks off his stack". I don't think that's collusion, just general table talk. Hell, they may have said this about me at some point

I haven't seen anything suspicious. I even see friends and obvious regulars playing hard against each other every time I'm there.

Yeah, have played at NST and haven't seen anything suspicious apart from occasional soft-playing between friends (all out in the open), but that is a staple of all poker rooms - very likely just some guy who can't fathom any other reason he is losing

Any idea how many people might be there for the $85 tonight?

Has traffic at this game gone down since the opening of the Ohio casinos?

The Columbus casino hasn't opened yet,so probably not. I know Gemini's numbers haven't dropped.

I've been there a quite a few times over the last few weeks and it doesn't seem less busy than it has over the whole last year or so, so I'd say it's been relatively unaffected thus far.

These places are done when the casino opens. It is simple logic. The casinos won't have to even force these places to close. All the little fish swimming around in the various Columbus games will flock to the Casino's room, and therefore all the solid players will head to the casino as well to pick up that +EV. These rooms will have no action, and will eventually close. You saw how big Nautica was in Cleveland, and it only took 2 weeks for that place to shut the doors from what I've heard.

I hope you're wrong as I love NST. It's cheaper than playing in any casino and there's plenty of bad players (I'm one of them!). Their daily tournaments are always going to be cheaper than anything the casino can offer, and it's a cleanly run place.

What time do the cash games usually get started at this room? I will be spending Wednesday night in Columbus on a business trip and would like to check out the action.

7ish is usually when the first cash table starts. it'll get pretty deep pretty quickly. Sometimes they start with PLO as the first table depending on which list fills first, but I'm sure a regular can clarify.

Shoulda came up, NST had 34 for the tourney and 3 good full cash games running all night last night.

Read somewhere that NST was going to start opening at noon on Mondays. I am pretty sure it is Mondays only for right now.

Yep, played Friday and Sat. Only bad thing was my results.

I just got an email from them that they are now running a 2/5 game at Noon on Mondays.

They still have cash games just not 6 and 7 tables of it any more.

Anyone know who won the player of the series? I was only able to play in one event, the ante-only event. It was a lot of fun.
