If I have quad 10's or higher, and I believe that someone else has a
draw to make quad 10's or higher, then I would check to make sure that that person has a chance to draw. Obviously, if I am letting them draw, we are talking about the flop and the turn, not the river.
Most of time, if I see that they have a draw for quad 10's or better (and I already have quad 10's or better), they will have a trips or a full house already (or maybe a draw for a flush), and they will be betting even if I check. Even if I let them draw for free and they miss quad 10's or better, they might make a higher hand than they had before the draw (which means it will be easier to take chips from them at the river).
This gets back to the discussion about pot odds. With the BBJ, the potential winnings are extremely large and I am willing to forgo some value bet calls to try and get it.
