I saw him in the room didn't play on 4-8 though. What'd he do? I had a funny table. Old man was sleeping at the table and missed two seperate orbits. (?) He was winning though... lol You never know who you're going to get when you play $2/$4 Hi Lo at 2:00AM. Pulled an all nighter and now I have to work I think this makes me a degen... hahahaha

To the regs

I need some advice and any input would be greatly appreciated because i am at my wits end. Like everyone one else, i thought July 1st would be a rebirth after a largely up and down year online. I was on a 7K downswing playing MTTs the first 5 months of this year when i decided to give up online for awhile and mainly focus on live poker since the limits were going up which i did around May.

I have been logging in some hours at the Rock, playing a total of 311 hours since July 1. 218 have been at 2-5 with the rest being at 1-3. After this weekend's 3 day session i have made a grand total of $2861 since July. I hear and see everyone else getting paid and i wonder WTF am I doing wrong. Dealers, friends, and good regs all are constantly telling me that i am this decent/ very good player and they see no obvious leaks, but my results are saying otherwise and i'm not feeling like i'm this player that everyone is making me out to be.

So i am asking for any advice to help me turn my situtation around because I am ready to just give up poker for awhile and take an extended break. What are you guys doing? Now i've had a decent number of beats, but i'm the type of player that believes that if i'm not winning that its because i'm doing something wrong and not because of beats or variance which is something that average players like to do. Seeing how soft the games are there, i just cannot believe that i can run bad there for 2 months.

If you are curious as to who i am, i'm a tall skinny black guy who usually wears a charcoal colored hooded HR sweatshirt. I only say this because if you recognize me and you might have seen a hand i played that you didnt like and could give me some much needed feeback.

Any and all advice would be welcomed and gl to you all at the tables. I will be around the computer all day so i will monitor this thread if anyone wants to chat.

I'm pretty sure we've talked and played at the same table several times. IIRC, we discussed the PS 8-game tables. Anyway, I don't recall any specific hands, but I do recall a couple of your double-barrels not working out. And outside a handful of villain-specific hands, they don't work for me. 99% of the players at THR are saying "I haz top pear, I CAW!". You can win a lot of small pots over time c-betting dry flops heads-up or 3-way, but c/f multi-way unless you've got something. IOW, value bet more, bluff less.

tks 4 the input and i do remember us talking about the 8 game. Thats something i'll try to be more conscious of though as far as 2 barrelling. Its something that i usually try to avoid unless i feel the player is decent or a reg who knows i'm pretty tight.

But tks again

No problem. Keep in mind that, even though your friends and colleagues all say "variance.....MEH" doesn't mean they're wrong...

I would but playing online today for the first time in while. Grinding a bunch of small MTTs and cash games is alittle refreshing actually.

GL at the tables.

was anyone at the 5-10 table monday night when asian reg (maybe 40-50, wears a hoody and is quiet) bet 500 and 1k with two players about where the button was before we moved tables(for them to clean the room) and then pulled his money back off the table and welched the bets once it was confirmed he lost? someone said his name was mon or something that started with an M.

lesson learned let the third party players hold the money dont leave on table and trust the person wont snatch it back

Well, I don't recall playing against you or not but if I saw you then I might remember. Anyway, Deekay is right... The tables are very fishy and it is easy to pick out the tough tables or the tough players at your table. I have been doing very well by playing very straight forward with a TAG style. Pay attention to your table dynamics because the HR is known to have a lot of players who move around A LOT which I think most of you will attest to. Another note on style, I usually don't pull the killer bluff until late in the night when I have a stack which helps to build a huge stack or leave with a little profit if it doesn't work out. Again, TAG ABC poker my friend. Keep grinding, the money is there. Also, don't EVER think that your game doesn't have leaks. Everyone except for the poker gods lose value somewhere. I am showing a nice sized profit since July 1st (enough to pay off my rent for the next 8 months) and I think I suck at poker... Hell, I'm a HUGE fish online... lmfao

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

One thing I can't stress enough to the regs is to STOP TALKING ABOUT POKER AT THE TABLE! It's bad for business... Why advertise that you play online and offer up the fact that 2p2 is here? Let them figure it out like all of us did. Not sure if there is anyone here specifically but last night when I was playing, some dumb dude just kept talking about odds and outs and blah blah blah... It's frustrating because the information is plastered all over televised poker now and if they have not figured it out from that then please don't help them. Fish need to stay fish so I can pay my rent... Okay, done venting.

I mostly ignore the poker talk at the table, but the few times I've listened when there is a table captain/poker "pro", the advice is from mostly wrong to completely wrong an horrendous.

What tilts me more is berating of bad players that goes on. There is a couple of specific regs/semi-regs out there that can't keep their mouth shut take a ****ing beat, and then let the droolers loose back all the buyin, and then some.

They started Mississippi Straddle on Tuesday. You can now straddle from any position and if you are posting a missed big and small blind behind the button, you can now just straddle and all of it is live.
For those not familar with this. Lets say the button straddles, the action now starts with the small blind.

I heard one of the best and worst slow roll stories yesterday.
2 guys at my table were talking about a hand they were both involved in a few days ago and it went like this:
Old guy with KK and Young guy with AA, They raised a few times preflop till one of them shipped. Head up all in, they didnt turn cards over till river.
Flop comes AKK, blank, blank.
Old guy turns up 1 king and says Ship it!
Young guy turns up Aces full and says You Ship it!
Old guy sticks the other king to his forehead and says No, You Ship it!
