Parisron,
Do you know if the satelites are gonna be the same as last time for the upcoming WPT in sept? (Think they were 55$ 9 person sit n gos, pay top 3 for 160$ voucher.)

They were all 10 handed and yes they will be the same as last time, with the exception that the $480's will pay top 3 instead of top 2 since its only $1500 main vs $2250.

And you can sell any of the vouchers you win in the satellites if you wish.

The room is usually freezing cold; if you wear shorts/T-shirt because it's 95 degrees outside, you will be miserable. Make sure you bring a hoodie/sweatshirt. You will definitely use it.

Played the $100 tourney last night. 8k in chips, an additional 2k with the $10 add-on. 25 runners I believe (the bad beat being so high is no doubt hurting a little, plus its mid-August and numbers are always a little down this time of year). Decent structure, though, and 20 minute blinds.

Still at 100-200-25 ante I get involved with a hand where I flop a pair and a flush draw and end up getting all the chips in but don't improve.

So I'm left with just 75 chips. 25 goes to the ante, 50 is all of the small blind I can muster. I make a boat to getup to around 600.

Next hand on button I shove dark and make broadway off three callers. So I've got about 2200ish. Start to actually play and, lo and behold, three hours later I'm at the final table with 40k in front of me, probably third or so at that point

Then I go ice cold. Down to 26k and blinds at 600-1200, I am looking for a spot. Particularly against an old guy to my direct right who is so drunk that I believe they cut him off, at least for awhile. He's slurring his words something awful and he often doesn't realized the action is on him. But he's got about 35 k.

He limps utg, I have AK suited and go to 6k, knowing I am likely inducing a shove from him. Folds to him, he shoves, i snap. He turns over J-Q off. J in the window and I brick out. He apologizes, I say that's ok its drunk poker, and he slurs something along the lines of he's good at being a drunk poker player.

The rest of the table had a mixed reaction. On the one hand, they are happy that old bad player, who is also ******ed drunk, has a bunch more chips that he will surely donk off to them shortly. On the other hand, I think some were genuinely rooting for me to at least cash, having come back from 75 chips. Pretty close to the proverbial "chip and a chair."

Sure enough, caught up to a guy later and old guy blew it all in short order, also missing out on the money.

Fun times.

I get that. I just haven't been to the Silk's in a long time. I think HR is better than Derby period. The shuffler situation at Derby makes that true by itself. But I dunno about Silks. I was really asking an implied question to elaborate.

Can anyone explain in further detail how the Step1, Step2 and Step3 works for the Satellites in the upcoming WPT Regional events in Sept. I want to play in only 2 Events. Event #1 DAY1A $515 Buy in , Event #5 $335 Buy in and Event, Event #7 $355 Buyin and finally Event # 16 $290 Buy in.

I am trying to determine which is best way to play 1-2 satellites to try and satellite into a bigger tourney or just buy into Event #16 for $290.

Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yep. I think a $160 ticket should cost around $125, no? Best bet regardless, as you must factor in the time you save playing sattys yourself.

The satellite/comp system is brilliant because it allows the house to raid the BBJ dollars. They are giving $3 an hour comps right now that you can use to buy into WPT events, either directly or by using for a satellite. That money comes out of the promotional dollars, which is funded by the BBJ.

Knew they'd figure out a way to get their hands on that dollar.

They do it all the time, in one way or another. Of course, it's not like they can't just keep some of the money outright whenever they want. There is no law or regulation that they have to use BBJ promotional dollars for promotions. As an Indian tribe, they can do anything they want with the money without any repercussions. I doubt you can even find out how much money has been kept from the BBJ drop for "player promotions".

this crap aggravates me beyond belief. especially the fact that they try to hide it. if they were at least up front about it people would know and it would just be a preference that they don't do it, but you still play there knowing the cost (same as a rake really). caesars started doing this in AC and tried to hide and it caused a pretty big outrage by the poker regs. it gave borgata an even larger hold on the poker scene over the winter.

thanks for posting this. see you guys in september.

Except that their reputation is worth way more to them than the piddley money in the poker room promotions pool.

You're assuming that if they kept more than their fair share of the Jackpot drop that somehow we would find out...

I personally don't see what the big deal is about giving out comps for a month out of promotional fund. I wish they would do something like this every month actually, even if it was just for use in any tourneys they ran.
