I was thinking of going up there later, but at the advice of parisron I'm second guessing. Anybody over there? How's the traffic?

Does anyone know if there will be any tournaments this Sunday? (Jan 2)

I'll be in the area and wanted to play in one, as I saw they were held daily in December, but it seems they've cut back the schedule.

Anyone know otherwise?

Also, what are the lowest FLHE stakes offered?

Thanks!

I think they have tourneys everyday. call them to be sure.

2/4 limit HE is the normal highest. The other day the had a 4/8 limit HE but that is very rare.
3/6 limit Omaha/8 is daily.

Was there for the evening. Place was packed. The 1/2nl list was 50+ at a few points. The 500K BBJ is driving allot of action imo

I picked up a sheet on the January promo today.
Apparently according to the sheet you qualify each week from sunday 12:01am to Thursday 11:59 pm. So 5 days instead of 4 like I thought before. As long as this isnt a misprint.
Then they announce the qualifiers on fridays and you will have 30 days to use the free ticket in a wednesday $240 deepstack tourney(Deepstack, yea right. lol, 6500 chips and 25 min. blinds)
You can qualify each week so you can win 4 free entries this month.

The only thing that is not known yet is, if you qualify this week before the Jan. 5th deepstack tourney can you play in that one. They will know on Monday.
If not then Jan. 12th is the 1st you can play in for free.

The tourney calendar is posted for Jan on their website and the wed. deepstacks alternate between 12:30pm and 7:30pm.
Jan. 5th 12:30 pm
Jan. 12th 7:30 pm
Jan. 19th 12:30 pm
Jan. 26th 7:30 pm

Also they had a sign up about changes in the 10/20nl and 10/25nl games(if they ever have any) I briefly read it but it looks like they they will be doing regular $5+1 rake and Jackpot on those games now instead of the time rake and no Jackpot.

I assume that's at least in part because the higher limit players are looking up at that board flashing a half mill and pissed their game doesn't qualify.

I don't think there has been a 10/20nl or 10/25nl game in the last few months.
Maybe some of the regular 5/10nl players and others would play the bigger games now because they didnt want to pay $8/half hour and not be in on the big Jackpot.

WTF? Jackpot in any game bigger than 2/5 is ******ed. Actually I would like for people to call off stacks because they know I've got aces and they have a chance to hit the bad beat. Carry on hard rock, you're doing a great job :sarcasm:

I think because there has been no big games lately they are changing it up a little to see if they might get some games going now. Whats wrong with that?
If you were a 10/20nl or 10/25nl player you would really have a problem with it being $5+$1 vs $8 or $9/half hour and no Jackpot?

I wish there was no jackpot in any of the NL games there but in reality there are tons of fish that play with the jackpot being part of the reason.

apparently the jackpot should have been hit tonight but guy folded it.

1/2 or 1/3nl
raise reraise reraise. yada yada. 10 10 folds. AA vs KK obv

board runs A K K 10 10.

bye bye 540k.

story has been telephoned numerous times but i believe this is the real one.

People seem to prefer playing 5/10 with a rock as opposed to 10/20 or 10/25. Last time I played I put myself on the 10/20 list, and nobody else even got on the list.

I also wish there was no BBJ, but at this point it's very +EV even if it's super high variance.

J9, that's pretty sick if true

alex i just got back from there and apparently its true.

also i agree that 5/10/20 is a better game bc u get the guys who want to play 5/10 to buy in for 1k, then throw in the 20 straddle and there is action,
where as these guys would never just sign up for another bigger than 5/10.

i heard about this...must have sucked!!

Today was my first time at Hard Rock and my first time playing live in a casino. I had a good time, made about $22 at 2/4FL but dropped $50 on a SnG...overall it was a nice experience and I'm looking forward to next time.

The only thing that bothered me was one very rude comment by a woman at the player's club station (when I went to get a card). She said that I looked 13 and shouldn't be there....I thought that was unprofessional (and unnecessary, seeing as she was holding my ID at the time)

How's the action in the recent weekends? Which limits give the most action?

Last time I went during the week the action was super nitty/passive (1/2, 2/5). No omaha running during that time

The money isn't the issue at those stakes. The two main problems are:

1. In the years and years I have been playing larger limits I have never seen a jackpot hit at a high-limit table. I would prefer not to donate a $1 each hand to some little old guy playing on a 2/4 FLH table.

2. If Hard Rock ever wants to compete in the high-stakes arena they need to learn how to make a proper decision, quell some of the badmouthing by actually changing their attitudes, and provide an atmosphere where people feel safe with +$10k on the table.

Silks and SKC have completely separate rooms where the larger games play. PBKC has a sectioned off area with a dedicated brush and high-stakes coordinator. That is what makes a difference, not an extra $1 an hour rake.

I hope I have to eat my words because THR has the potential to draw some very big fish, unfortunately the attitude towards players and lack of uniformity in rules makes their shot pretty slim.

I can't seem to find anything on the January promotion online anywhere. Is there a limit to the number of people who can qualify each week?

No limit to how many can qualify. You have 30 days to use the ticket when you qualify and you can qualify 4 times this month.
Sundays 12:01am to Thursdays 11:59pm.
