if i ever went to florida again, id visit hialeah park for the first time, i hear its got much looser games since its in a sketchy area. and 4 tables of 1-2 plo at the same time. $7 rake has no effect on tightening the games up in los angelos, so why would it in florida?

He's saying you should play tighter with more rake. Which you should if it isnt time rake.

Also in LA it's no flop no drop here it's no flop **** you

but in los angeles they take the whole rake regardless of how little is in the pot. even if checked down to the river. doesnt florida do like most states and wait til there is like 40 or 50 in the pot to take full rake and not take the full $7 on a $10 pot or am i wrong about this since im not in florida?

i just think the rake has to be worse in los angeles, and yet their games are looser.

Its not "no flop no drop" in L.A. At least not in any of the 4 rooms I played in out there recently.

Also, as severcard2003 said, in L.A. (at least at Commerce) if there's a flop, the entire $7 is raked from the pot immediately. If the pot is limped 3 ways to the flop, the $7 comes out of the $15 pot immediately.

Personally, Im tired of hearing about people adjusting their play due to the rake. Its stupid. The rake is $5-$7 just about everywhere in the U.S. Just outplay people and none of that **** matters.

In Florida the standard is 10% rake up to $5. Some rooms round up, others round down (e.g. a $44 dollar part will be $5 rake if rounded up or $4 rake if rounded down). In addition to the rake, most cardrooms do a $2 jackpot drop on every pot - $1 for the first $10 in the pot and $2 when the pot hits $20. Most rooms (maybe all now) the rake and drop are taken preflop, except if the blinds are chopped; although sometimes a dealer will do it wrong and not take rake and/or drop preflop. By law, all of the jackpot money has to be returned to the players as jackpot prizes, but that doesn't apply to the Indian casinos.

Its a bad rake structure, but it doesnt matter. The players are so bad that it more than makes up for the stupid rake. That was my point.

You dont want to tighten up and complain about the rake. You want to learn how to play winning poker while playing slightly looser and destroy the fish over and over in as many pots as possible.

See this thread for an in-depth explanation of the law and court interpretation of legal rake in California.

Other than the weather, California sucks in just about every way.

Hialeah is like another country. English is a second language there.

I've played in tons of seedy places, and I've never been more nervous for my safety than in the hialeah parking lot.

Action is next level tho

On a serious note, have you guys heard about the February promo? Word on the street is that it's an overnight promo, $500 for 50 hours midnight to 8am. I haven't seen any official announcement, but more than one dealer has relayed the same message.

To be fair, I've heard that absent a room director, it is the higher ups in table games and marketing who are making the calls right now, not the poker room shift managers.
