Can someone give me the breakdown of pros/cons of Clearwater vs St Pete?
Also, I’ve already lined up a few recruiters and they are pushing the metro Tampa area hard (just more available jobs, my career is corporate finance). Should I consider this area too or is that too far removed if I truly want the beach lifestyle?
I’m from the panhandle originally and prefer Pensacola over destin if that helps (pcola being local and destin being touristy)
Appreciate any insight. Not too concerned with poker as those will just be one off trips, don’t need something close. Really just interested in the diff lifestyles the areas offer.

For the beach/boating/fishing lifestyle, Pinellas County (Clearwater, St. Pete, etc.) is definitely superior to Tampa as Pinellas has the coast of the Gulf of Mexico; Tampa's coast is Tampa Bay - still beach/boating/fishing opportunities there but not nearly the same quantity and quality. If you live in Pinellas County, your drive to the coast will be 15 to 30 minutes generally; from Tampa, add 25 to 45 minutes to that, maybe more in heavy traffic.
St. Pete has a chic downtown, good for culture, night life and restaurants. But pretty much anywhere in Pinellas (or Tampa) puts you in easy reach of those things. Clearwater is more centrally located in Pinellas than St. Pete, so it puts a lot more in easy reach - north, south, east, west.
For your work career, Tampa will have a lot more opportunities. But there will be some in Pinellas as well.
PM me if you want to discuss more in depth. Give some details of the lifestyle you want here, including things like entertainment, types of boating/fishing/beach, house/apt/neighborhood, cultural activities, travel, etc.
