ugh tampa hard rock is run like a complete ****ing joke. things that have happened in the last 2 days of playing:

1) had to wait OVER 30 MINUTES to get my chips because a manager has to approve >5k apparently, and it took them that long to get a supervisor over? wtf? this is not an irregular occurrence either, every time I've bought in or cashed out it takes >5 minutes at the absolute least.

2) Whoever the lady is who's been calling the games up front is a complete moron. It took me 5 minutes to explain to her that I wanted to get in a PLO game (i said pot limit omaha, PLO, PL omaha and she couldn't understand any of these). Me and my friend told her to put us on a 5/10 NO LIMIT (we clearly said no limit), and obv she puts us on a 5/10 limit and we didn't even realize until we go to the table.

I wholeheartedly think that the front line traffic could be cut by 30% at least if they fired that lady.

3) Me and my friend got there tonight and were on a waiting list (me for 5/10 NL, him for 2/5 PLO) at 7:00, come 7:50 my name randomly got taken off the 5/10 NL list, and someone behind me gets my seat. I go up to the front and tell them what happened, the guy gives me a total blank stare and then 3 more people come up saying they got taken off the list too. I ask the front guy like 4 times to get back on the list, he keeps telling me to go away and wait.

Finally this brush who is the only guy who knows whats going on in the entire poker room (tall guy, think his name is Chris) gets me on the 5/10 list again. I wait 30 more minutes... finally chris flags me down for a 5/10 game, i go get my chips and head over to the table... only to see its full. This happened to a bunch of other people too. Then they tell me they'll start a new table of 5/10 immediately so I wait for another 5-10 minutes, nothing happens so I tilt leave.

I realize that there's going to be a lot of problems with so many people trying to play and so few tables, etc. But THR is being run really badly imo, if you plan on playing this weekend you should probably come in super early so you can actually maybe get a table.

It moves quick. Try the machine by the brush stand 1st it works on some fames to get on list with your card

Lolol I was at the table Mdom got taken to that was full. He rolled his eyes and looke like he could have killed someone.

+1 waiting > 5 minutes to cash in your chips after they've already been counted 3-4 times is dumb. Also i was sent to 3 different 5/10 nl tables after being told there was an open seat and there wasn't. I think its gonna take the dealers/brushes a little bit to get use to those new devices on the tables but other than that the games are great

I have played 5 sessions since this started and Have not had a problem yet(which was not always the case before July 1st) I give my card to them when I sign up, then when they send you to a table later, your name should come up(if you let them swipe your card when you signed up) on the tables computer.

I have played at hard rock a ton for the last 3 years and I know the problems that come up and the way they run things. Having said this, I think they have done a pretty good job so far. Since everything is so new(new games, new buy ins, bigger chips, alot more people)
In the coming weeks they will get better and work out the kinks. But at least through this holiday weekend, expect some minor problems here and there.

Also, they have the machine up and running next to the brush stand now, next to the tourney table by the brush stand.
You can check how much $'s you have accumulated and also get on the list by swiping in. For some reason on some games you click on it says see podium and others it lights up and lets you joing the list. Not sure what the deal was. Hopefully they get a few of those and that will lessen the long lines to get on the list.

I played Thurs. from about 2pm to 2am, all 2/5 NL. They swiped my card when I signed up, and then sent me to a specific seat on a table, and my name was already in the system at the table. I was expecting a lot of new faces (I've played there for years) but it was mostly the same faces just playing higher stakes. My first table broke, and the second table was rarely full the entire night. While the place was busy, it wasn't really jammed up like I thought it would be. On my tables the games had really tightened up, as I think now the regulars who were used to the $100 buy ins were cautious with more money at stake. Other than that, not really much different. I didn't play PLO, and I'm sure the new games and system is causing confusion, but I'm sure they will work it out. For example, at one table, all the dealers had trouble logging someone in. Then a player showed one how to do it right, and the dealer said that they had all been taught wrong. One sad note for me, I had quad 9s (with two in my hand) beat by a straight flush (with two in his hand) but you need quad tens to win the bad beat jackpot. So all I did was lose my stack. Sigh.

does anybody know anyway to get brush or a dealing job at the hard rock or any other room in FL? even an audition?

Im pretty sure that they are only hiring poker dealers from within now at HR. So you have to get a job there doing something for a few months(not sure exactly) then you can transfer. Thats what they were doing before July 1st anyway.
As far as other rooms. I have seen several of them adversiting hiring dealers in the last few weeks. Just call them and ask.

I havnt had a problem getting in a game. You swipe your card at the brush stand and when your name blinks go and grab your seat.

Im pretty sure ive only seen 3/6 omaha so far. nothing bigger. They had a list for 10/20 omaha/8 last night but I dont think it started.

They seem to be playing 10/20 limit HE pretty steady tho.

They had a 10/20 omaha 8/b thursday night, I played it.

I get back into town on the 5th, and it looks like THR is the place to be. Has anyone had any good experiences anywhere else? I dont think anyone is competing with the 5-10 and up crowd, imo.

5/10 has been running strong at Sarasota. The game was big tonight. They had 2/5 PLO going too. It has been busy there.

Have been grinding 2/5 at tampa rock. Pretty soft and game selection is good.

This never got off today, I went there specifically to play 10/20 or 20/40 at around 2. Ended up playing 2/5NL waiting to play, they called the 10/20 to start, but it didn't go off.

Maybe try again Monday.

Not real impressed with how the room was being run, but that is par for the course there. Still occasional horrendous dealer, slow to fill seats, and there was still dealers confused about new rules/procedure. They could be worse I suppose.

Better than playing for $100 at a time buyins(though about half the people at my table were still min. buying.)

i plan on going in like 2-3 hrs for my fourth session. can anyone give me a heads up on how the lists look for any NL 1-3, 2-5, or 5-10? also, please lemme know if the 10/20 LO8 is running or if there's anyone on the list.
