Mikess2001,
Thank you so much for your detailed reply. The internet is such an amazing thing and I am so happy I happened to stumble upon this forum. I really just wanted to know the whole story. For some history of my dad...my father is 82 years old and had a 5 bypass open heart surgery in 1983...and some stints put in over the years. He is a strong man...Greek war hero during his Army days in the Korean War.
When they got him to the hospital, he was able to speak and stated that his chest hurt (obviously) and then they sent him for a catherization...he was put on a ventilator for most of Sunday. We didn't know if he would have suffered neurological problems due to loss of oxygen...or if he could survive w/ out the life support. He surprised us all and recognized us, was speaking and did fine w/ out the LS. He had a AICD put in on Monday and is recovering slowly- obviously weak and in a lot of pain, but alive and talking!!!!!!!!!!!!
The doctors said he suffered a "sudden death" episode....type of heart attack that just kills people suddenly and without warning- if he were at my home that night...he probably would have died in his sleep. My husband and two friends were there with him and didn't even know that this was happening. When they went to "meet" him in their usual spot, they could not find him...went to security and were only told that he was sent by ambulance to the hospital.
Were the people doing CPR just regular citizens playing poker? Am I understanding this correctly....did one of these "poker players" just happen to be a Cardiologist? I just can't believe the amount of LUCK that my father had that night... I asked my dad if he remembered anything...he said I do remember winning one hand.....I bet that is the last thing he remembered before falling out of his chair.....it is like a movie...!!!!
I would love to thank the people who did CPR and saved him....I wish I could find them!
Thank you again Mike for being so kind and for giving me more info.
