Can anyone clarify what the jackpot/rake take should officially be at HR Tampa for NL cash games for a raise/everyone folds PF scenario? Eg, say in 1/2 utg raised to $5 or $6, and everyone inc blinds fold. They appear to be dropping $1 rake for this scenario, and are considering the uncalled $5 or $6 bet as imcludes and part of the raked pot amount. Is this normal practice for casino poker? Would that be the norm in Vegas? Thanks for any feedback..

they do rake preflop but they're not raking an uncalled bet.. you just have to remember that part of your bet is the calling amount. for a more extreme example... say you're under the gun and you raise it to $100 and everyone folds. you are not raising $100... you are raising $98. the pot is $1 (small blind) + $2 (big blind) + 2 (portion of your bet that is calling the blind). so they rake $1 because the pot is now at $5.

The next $1 would be raked when the pot gets to $15.

this is common raking at any casino that rakes with no flop. a lot of casinos have a "no flop no drop" policy... but not this one.

as far as i know... all the rooms in vegas are "no flop no drop"

It really isn't common to rake $1 on a $5 pot. Most casinos I've played in do not round up but take 10%. $1 at $10, $2 at 20 etc..but this is the Hard Rock

yeah... i've seen both ways plenty. usually areas with less casino competition it's more likely to rake rounding up.

but i agree with you... certainly the hard rock isn't doing any favors. rake rounding up is the least of my concerns. by very general estimations... it seems there is way more being take out for jackpot drops than given back.

Little slick Apr 9th-14th coming up. $120+$20+$10. Is that a standard fee and staff toke? I can't recall earlier tourneys. I'm sure there is still good value and I'll probably fire at least a couple bullets, yet $120 + $30 is quite a fee structure.

Do people still tip when the staff is getting a 8.33% vig on the entire tourney's entry fees that go to the prize pool? And this is along with the house is getting a 16.67% take.

$20 fee on $120 is fairly standard, it's pretty much the minimum MTT fee you'll ever see, they don't go lower. Anything less and the tournament would be even more turbo. The $10 is high, since the standard is taking 3% of the pool. IMO there's no need to tip on top of that. But I don't want this discussion to go down the tipping rabbit hole, you can ask in the Tipping Discussion thread if you want feedback on that.

I heard a nasty rumor yesterday that they were increasing their BBJ drop to 2$ effective may 1. Currently at 2/5 if there is 1 limper and you raise and everyone folds many dealers will rake 2+1. Will they now be raking 2+2? One person told me that the 2nd $ will not be dropped till the pot reaches 20$.

wonder if it has anything to do with the rumor the BBJ is going back to a progressive jackpot.

2-2 PLO has been running recently and I really like that game. It is still an absurdly high variance game with swings of $1k - $2k possible in a night, yet allows more recreational players to buyin for $200 and not feel like they're sitting with the same group of guys that play the 5-5 game endlessly and all know each other. Hoping 2-2 PLO becomes more of a regular game. They should allow a $5 straddle in that game though, not $4 as it is played now.

I am going to be here later today for the first time. Are there any deals or promotions for new signups? I didn't notice anything on their site.

Wouldn't 2-2-5 end up playing bigger than 5-5?

Milkshakes at the deli inside the poker room are good too. The massage girl with short red hair and really small frame is the best one if you want to get a massage.

Didn't get a chance to eat anything there. Gave myself the tour, the new upstairs section is pretty nice. The poker room is VERY nice. Kicks the ass out of the Foxwoods dungeon I'm used to. They do comp booze if you're betting $100+ on the tables (which I did for a bit before poker). Also was told by a pit floor that the guy who came up with the parking fee idea got booted when the fee did.

No because he's referring to a straddle and not a 3rd blind. 5/5 PLO also has the optional straddle for 10 so you would want to compare 2/2/5 to 5/5/10. Also the buy-in is bigger at 5/5 than 2/2.

I just logged into my account I have an amount of comp dollars that seem to match the time I played poker for like the FAQ says. But do you not get any for table game play?

I've generally only received comp dollars for table game play by asking the pit or a host. The pit will load dollars onto your card that can be used at bars/restaurants/hotel rooms on property. You will probably be able to get free/reduced hotel rates at both Tampa and Hollywood if you check, especially if it was your first time having a players card and you were playing $100/hand.

It's been a couple of years since I played table games, but it used to be that the table games comps were separate from the card comps. You still give them your card when you start, but then they track your average bet, time of play, etc and use a formula to determine your comp value.

Then, instead of using your card, you would just say something like "can I get two buffet comps" and they would print out a voucher good for that amount. But that could be old info by now.

How long will you be in Tampa?

I was at the table for about an hour and got 3 beers comped, so I guess that's fine. I'm already back up north. I was in Orlando for a wedding and only drove to the casino for maybe 3 hours to check it out. I forgot you were around Tampa, I would've let you know I was going.

The straddle is 2-2-4. I agree it should be 5, and so does the rest of the table, mostly for the simplicity of the pot total, but the straddle is 4. And yes, it would but the straddle is not mandatory, and 5-5-10 is a bigger game than 2-2-4.
